Quoting: Seer777 That book disturbed me, in several ways. Is there a way for inherent morality to Stand by its own Merit? Or will, one bad apple spoil the whole bunch remain? I'm going to think about this for a bit.... Soooo.... Fulfilling a self-appointed purpose, I think, is the key here. ... I am not sure how that pertains to my question... IOW, is a reward/punishment system the proper way to correct behavior? Or is there another way? I'll just address this bit for now.... am running on psychological fumes at the moment... Anyhow, I feel that a reward/punishment system, imposed externally, is not only the 'wrong path', but indeed it is sure to fail; the more the doctrine is forced, the more catastrophic the failure. Allowing a 'self-appointed' purpose, on the other hand, I believe cannot help but succeed.... after all, we are the best judges of our own skills and merits; assuming our self-esteem has not been destroyed by contemporary society. ... |

You know, just days after my 'illumination' experience I have relayed over the last year, a stranger showed up on that forum. He wrote a thread regarding Astral Travel and I instantly noted his brilliance. I wrote a response to him thanking him for the contribution. It was then he wrote back to me, and said something I will never forget. It stunned me so completely than I continue to ponder it to this day... A few days later I put together this thread on the other forum, but felt that it lacked what I needed to be able to create 'it' like I saw it. I went searching and suddenly stumbled on GLP. I saw it's charms right away and signed up for an account. This was my first thread the first day I joined GLP. Once here I left the old forum behind completely. I felt one day pulled back to CH and that Astral Travel thread and that specific message that 'stranger' had given me that day. After not being on the forum for months, when I checked for the post I saw he had exactly 777 total posts at that exact time. ... Do you know what he said to me 0? His great uncle having spent his later decades trying to decipher the words of the 'Great Gypsy'. As he read and deciphered in that Moment, he realized that which he was reading was happening in real time. There is a scene in that movie where someone is shot and after they are presumably 'dead', a beating of the dead body occurs. My mother was so horrified at this scene, that she stood up in the audience, yelled at my father for bringing her to such a movie, and walked out.
