There are grasshoppers everywhere! Plague coming?

My granddaughters found two big green ones in my HOUSE no less yesterday.

We released them in the outdoors.

In my area of Texas we have been invaded for the past 2 years!

My chicks and turkeys sure as hell like um but i couldnt plant a damn garden this year as last year they took everything i had.

Also,not enough rain in the ground for the fungus that eats grasshopper eggs.

Was camping for the last 3 days. I was thinking the same thing. I am here in WNY and over those days I saw so many grasshoppers. I didn't know what to think!

even here in Northern Ontario it seems grasshoppers are everywhere this year!

It was just as bad in 2005 or 2006 in my part of Texas. I agree, this year is as bad as that year. They are everywhere!

Yes i saw a fucking giant grasshopper in my garage man, I am now terrified of them!

southwestern ontario too. tons of them... i've noticed them a lot more than usual this year.

Hot and dry usually means lots of grasshoppers, and lots of ants too. Which has me thinking.. Are ant holes waterproof?

You know what's so weird?

I was driving down a countryish road today and I SWEAR... every half mile AT LEAST I could SEE a HUGE grasshopper sitting in the middle of the road. HUGE grasshoppers. I saw one in my driveway the other day, biggest fucking grasshopper I've EVER seen. I don't even know if they really are grasshoppers, maybe they're called something else, but... they're fucking everywhere!

We had them in the Texas Panhandle this year...it happens every few years.

I have yet to see hardly any this year.

We did have a bit of a drought when it got hot here,but ever since July 7th it has done nothing but rain everyday.

A couple of days ago there were thousands and thousands of dragon flys outside everywhere. Even in major streets. I assume it was just mating day, but there were sooo many!

Yup,big-ass hoppers like 4 and 5 inches and brown/green and the damn things bite.

Covered my only peach tree with netting so the fuckers want kill it,couldnt plant my garden this year because from last years plague of um i just said (fuck it).

Swap you yank's one for one slugs for grasshopper's I've tried to go organic etc but this year about 20+ slugs per sq m ,hasn't stopped raining .

The cool thing about grasshoppers is they have compound eyes - imagine!
