wonder what happens when Issac goes over it or will they offer another sacrifice or will the people -parrish- from lack of knowledge?

i thought it was a bit overdressed to have the big picture of the patch that said EXPLOSIVE on it. that word seems to be getting used too much lately.

Last weeks news! Evacuations on 8/17 and people back 8/18. I live in NOLA, I know the situation.

Remember when the Mississippi floodgates were opened in 2011, for the first time since 1973? Could that have contributed to the current troubles at Bayou Corne?

I've wondered the same thing,what does happen to an expanding sinkhole and butane cave when mixed with a hurricane!

Plaquemines Parish Officials issued a mandatory evacuation to part of the neighborhood near the plant and then lifted it a day later, too soon according to some.

"The investigating officials deemed where they live to be safe. Clearly, it was not safe at all."


Yes, the incident was days ago but many environmental people still think the problem is still there...if you have any updated info from on the ground in NOLA, please inform us!

Sinkhole in Isaac's 'cone of uncertainty,' 63 miles from Gulf..the eve of Hurricane Katrina's seventh anniversary, the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) is urging south Louisiana residents to prepare this weekend for Tropical Storm Isaac since part of the state, including its giant sinkhole area, is in the “cone of uncertainty” where the storm could make landfall, according to the National Weather Service. Even if south Louisiana does not take a direct hit, Isaac is threatening the already unstable sinkhole swampland area with more water, flooding and winds carrying its contaminants further....

According to them, it might miss Louisiana. Isaac appears to be heading East but keep a close eye on it. We never know.

The EPA infrared flight is expected to occur between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. today.

“If it’s a cavern fracture, failure, whatever, there’s little that you can do,” Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) civil engineer who is coordinating the science group studying the sinkhole, Chris Knotts told the crowd at the public meeting Friday night in Pierre Part, Louisiana.

A “low but audible rumble in the crowd” followed that statement by Knotts, according to David Mitchell, reporting for The Advocate.
