Hypercanes require a minimum ocean temperature of 48 degrees celcius..warmer than any ocean has ever been by about 15 degrees so a hypercane just ain't possible.
If it stalls for long enough it will actually cause upwelling..

But it also has the devastating affect of prolonged heavy rain fall and severe flooding....not a nice scenario !

Some poor man is on the news in Plaquemines parish said he has 9 feet of water in his house!

Flooding is way more dangerous to New Orleans than heavy winds.

So the longer Isaac lays just outside its gates, the worse it will become.

The guy's first floor is flooded. They moved to the second floor. Water coming in. Moving to his third floor.

BAYOU CORNE, La. - Weekly housing assistance checks for residents evacuated because of a large sinkhole in Assumption Parish will not be distributed Thursday as previously scheduled.

Hurricane Isaac hit land Tuesday night in Plaquemines Parish and the uncertainty of its aftermath led officials with Texas Brine Co. LLC of Houston to postpone the check distribution. Affected residents receive $875 each week as compensation for the inconvenience.
