Its a bit tough when you have things to do, I know, but it does help. Also: I happen to put hydrogen peroxide into my ear, and that literally killed 95% of the pain I was in. I put it in there and it bubbled up for a long, LONG time. I was in excruciating pain, tugging at my ear and sometimes even smacking the side of my head on my temple because it just hurt so damn bad :( So yeah, I recommend the H2O2. Leave it in there about 5 to 10 minutes and see if that helps, and get you some heat wraps: I got the ones that were for menstrual cramps because they are small and shaped so, when folded in half on itself, generated good hot heat, and I could fixate them aside my temple/jaw with a headband (I looked like a dork but I didnt care, it helped!) I hope you get to feeling better soon. I know the pain you are in right now Last Edited by Too Dark Park on 09/24/2012 05:21 AM |

It hurts just sitting here but when I get up it pounds and is 10x worse, I think my kids are gonna have to help me out this morning. Luckily I have the heat wraps and peroxide on hand so I'll try both. I've always just popped a vicodin when I had a bad earache so I haven't dabbled much in alternative remedies for that..the pee thing, I think my grandma tried that on me when I was younger and I'm sure it helped, warm liquid and all but I just can't bring myself to pour my own pee in my ear. :) And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Quoting: Debauchery Anyone have any quick home remedies or suggestions to relieve the pain? Plain old heat maybe? I've read a couple of older threads but I seem to be missing or am out of a couple of things suggested..oil of oregano I don't have, I don't really want to put piss in my ear and I'm not sure of anything else that's safe to stick in there. I have about 3 hours of making breakfast, packing lunches and getting kids ready for school so the vicodin I have is out of the question til they're gone, so I need a little help to get me by for a few hours, if you'd all be so kind as to recommend something that has worked for you and isn't to complicated I'd appreciate it. I'm not lazy..just not keen on moving around much right now, hurts too much. Take a bunch of turmeric. Just put a heaping tablespoon in a glass of water or orange juice, whatever, stir it up, and drink it down. It's a powerful disinfectant and antibacterial and will really help kill the infection. Then, for the pain, take an advil and excedrin - together. If the pressure/pain starts to relent, but not enough, take another combo. Be careful, because it's hard on your body. But with severe pressure pain, like migraines and things, it's a miracle. I got this info from a nurse, who gives this to people with savage migraines in ER when they don't want to take hardcore pain meds. You have an infection. Keep taking the turmeric 2-3 times a day - it will work. |

I've had issues though since I vacationed last year, went into the mountains and just being at higher altitudes jacked me all up. Came home with double ear infection and all sorts of good stuff. Since then my ears have constantly crackled and popped and I've have minor pain here and there. This earache takes the cake though. It's like a toothache, it's one of those pains that just make you want to bash your head into a wall until you're out cold. It's awful. The best ear drops I have found are using the following recipe. 1/3 Peroxide 1/3 Apple cider Vinegar 1/3 Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 25 drops GSE 0r Colloidal silver. Mix all this in a 2 oz tincture bottle. Gets rid of them in 24 hrs if you use it every hour or two. |

If so, your doctor may give you Bactrim or an antibiotic that will help you clear both the respiratory infection and the eustachian dysfunction. Please consider going to your doctor. It should be a fairly simple examination that will lead to you feeling much better quickly. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24334890 Good choice! Sweet oil (refined olive oil) and plain vegetable glycerine work as well. Vegetable glycerine is a ontact bacterial desiccant(I can never spell "dediccant"-at any rate,it kills the little buggers) Oh, and if anything you put in your ear is going down your throat-your ear drum is not intact, and needs to be patched. This is simple process where they take a bit of skin from behind your ear and put it on the open spot. You can hear much better after that.If you have surgically implanted tubes...follow your surgeons care instructions. |

Lie on the floor and dropper it into ear. I use 1/3 HP and 1/3 warm water. Let it bubble for a minute of two and then do the other side. FYI, just removed a wart from near my thumb, now completely healed. Clipped the top off and then soaked it in HP until the bubbling stopped. Was fully healed in 1 week. |

My mom used a little peroxide first, then would use an eye dropper and a few drops of warmed sweet oil, packed with cotton. Usually did the trick. If it's no better within 24-48 hours (or if it gets worse) you may wanna see your doctor. I still keep a small bottle of sweet oil on hand. Cheap, effective, and safe.
