Re: La Sinkhole Situation Just Got Much Worse! Update: Dangerous Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Detected, Seismic Activity Picking UP
I'm absolutely not an expert on this whole sinkhole thing, but...... WHAT IF:

All the sinkholes (known and unknown) actually were put in place either for exactly WHAT they are supposed to do or either for LETTING space availabe which at "any chosen point in time" after years of fracking (offically) would ALLOW TPTB to slowly, but steady, start converging/flowing all of them with seawater from the Gulf and then specifically PICK one of them to let it blow up in order to create whatever evil thing they are trying to do, as depicated on the Navy Map ???? 5a

I tried checking out the data from the 3 buoys positioned nearest to that area.... BUT

Station TESL1 shows data dating back to Sept. 30 only and showing the Sea level pressure (hPa), i.e. the recorded pressure is reduced to sea level using the method described in NWS Technical Procedures Bulletin 291 dropping from 1018.2 hPa (Sept. 1) to 1001.1 (Sept. 30)

Station AMRL1 shows a similar trend, dropping from 1017.9 to 1001.2

Would anyone more prepared in this matter mind having a look at the data of these buoys in particular? Maybe they find even more bizarre data or could at least explain why this is so.... peace

I just wonder what the expansion of an enormous amount of water filled into partially filled underground cracks/holes/cavities would be able to provoke in case of an event causing the "thing" to go off in its ENTIRETY.

PS: Forgive my english folks..... hf

Re: La Sinkhole Situation Just Got Much Worse! Update: Dangerous Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Detected, Seismic Activity Picking UP
Allow me to think 'out loud,' for a moment:

They state that the 'compacted earth' caused 'hydraulic pressure' to cause a 'frack out.'

Now,
I remember, in one of the first status reports of the sink hole, they stated that there was an unaccounted for ADDITIONAL amount of 'dense material' in the bottom of the hole. The sinkhole was a few hundred feet more shallow than the last mapping, when it was closed.

Are we to take their word for where this 'compacted earth' or 'dense material' is coming from, that they have discovered in the bottom of the sinkhole?
I have no idea how pressure would make 'mud' react, but I don't see how when you mix sediment with brine, you would get 'compacted earth,' or 'dense material.' Keep in mind that when the salt caverns are filled, they are not filled completely; they leave some 'head room' to allow for expansion, etc. This would, theoretically, allow room for the mixing of earth and sediments, with the brine and, I think, keep the mixture from becoming compacted.

I am beginning to wonder if there may be 'something' pushing up, from underneath the salt dome complex. This would account for why we are seeing bubbling for miles beyond the Bayou Corne scenario.
I know everyone is talking about a possible bed of methane, if we could find evidence of unexplained 'lift' in some areas, that would help to validate the hypothesis of the 'methane bubble'...

Any thoughts, or opinions, on this?

I am going to go do some research...
Hopefully I will have something to show everyone, tonight.

Thank you Earth Cries, for keeping us updated!hf

Ant Storm-The did come out recently & state that there is a "previously unknown XX Gallon Oil deposit & an XX Gallon Methane" pocket/deposit, I don't remember their term for it, under the dome & IIRC, it was over 50 million for one & 250+ million for the other.

We have a serious problem, here. It sounds as if they are now admitting that the Napoleonville Dome has been compromised. Am I reading this wrong?
 Quoting: Ant Storm 10117621

Seems to me you got it right.

They are admitting now that this situation is unprecedented! They do not know how to fix it.
 Quoting: Ant Storm 10117621

Have to give Hecox props for being so clear about this.

It's insane (yet not unexpected at all) that this still isn't in the MSM.

I personally think we will see a slow moving collapse, up to a point, then all hell will break loose. I think we will see extreme water table contamination, before we see large ground collapse. I am sure they have done underground mapping and are quite aware of the extent of damage that has been done to the salt dome complex.
 Quoting: Ant Storm 10117621

I tend to agree. I'm definitely not an expert, but as far as I know, it just can't take more than days (max) to do quite thorough mapping with a ground sonar. Also, it's kind of fishy that the mapping has been ordered to be performed by Texas Brine.

Keep in mine, everyone, that this is not just a localized problem, Salt domes are interconnected (for the most part) and this salt bed extends from the coastal region of Texas, all the way to the coast of Alabama.

God help us all...
 Quoting: Ant Storm 10117621

Looks gloomy indeed. The worst part is, there's simply no way to know the extent of the problem - neither as it is now nor what it's going to become. I'm not excluding the possibility of the situation calming down, but at least to me all the signs are saying, the plug has been taken out and now there are such forces at play that there's not much left to do but see what happens next.

Can't do much over here but keep watching the situation and sending love and light to all those affected by the catastrophe. Let's hope the worst case scenarios don't play out - that would be a nightmare for the whole of humanity.

Good points!

I also felt the theory about the pressure being formed by collapsing stuff just does not feel right. It seems to suffer of the same problem as the official 9/11 fairytale: gravity can do much, but there are limits to it too. The idea that the "compacted earth" would somehow manage to keep the pressure underneath itself while collapsing in an uncontrolled manner into a cavern sounds like an extremely (un)lucky event to me.

Also, the first time I read about the cavern floor being much higher than it should, the immediate picture I had in mind was that of pressure from underneath pushing the floor upwards - like a piston driven by hydraulic pump. Can't avoid thinking of the 2010 Gulf disaster and it's almost too obvious connection to the scenario...

Ok if this thing does go and a big chunk sinks into the GOM won't there be "snapback" along the high points like Monroe and points just north of Natchez?

I dunno I know a little bit (dangerous). There used to be a volcano somewhere around the Vicksburg or Natchez area. My dad used to collect those type of rocks around there.

I have been studying salt diapirs (salt domes), for the better part of my evening. I have learned some very interesting things.
First, salt diapirs (domes) travel at a rate of a little over 4 meters a century. That is quite a quick pace, geologically speaking! Basically a little over a foot a decade. As they travel through the sediment layers, they accrue a cap rock (compacted earth) at the 'head' of the dome. Also, as salt domes intrude, through the sedimentary layers, they push oil and gas upward.

Hypothetically, there could be a salt diapir that has moved up (during the past few decades) and breached the side of the Napoleonville Salt dome, compromising the cavern and causing the collapse. This could account for the increased pressure, which caused the 'frack-out', the oil and gas from an (as yet) unidentified source which is seeping into the sinkhole, along with the shallower measurements of the depth of the cavern and the 'dense material' or 'compacted earth' which was discovered.

Just a thought...

Yes...

I would rather my musings of another salt dome creeping up and slowly pushing into the Napoleonville Salt dome, thus causing the collapse and subsequent sinkhole, to be true...but, I do not think that scenario would account for the thermogenic methane bubbles that have been detected far from the sinkhole.

I simply cannot wrap my head around the implications of the 'huge pocket of methane' being the source of the problem. I guess I just do not want that kind of life altering doom...

I will need to find evidence of areas of unexplained 'rise' in the topography of Louisiana, before I will allow myself to entertain the unthinkable.

I will see what I can dig up.

Climate-changing methane 'rapidly destabilizing' off East Coast, study finds

[link to usnews.nbcnews.com]
 Quoting: Earth Cries

"Another unknown is what caused the Gulf Stream changes, said Phrampus, an earth sciences PhD candidate at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas."

"Multiple events can play a factor, such as changing sea level or an addition of cold/fresh water from the north," Phrampus said, adding he was hopeful that the changes might be "reversible under their own influence."

It appears that even in scientific studies, no one will consider the oil spill and corexit as possible factors to the changes in the Gulf Stream.

It's also another example of the paucity of information regarding the state of the North Atlantic Current...which should go hand-in-hand with such a study.

Also, even though this article shows that NBC is willing to report on methane release, it doesn't have the you-know-what to talk about deadly asphyxiating clouds of gas, or, burn scenarios. No mention of sudden animal deaths, much less the danger humans are facing...just that it rises into the atmosphere, possibly poised to trump carbon dioxide:

"An expert who was not part of the study said it suggests that methane could become a bigger climate factor than carbon dioxide.

"We may approach a turning point" from a warming driven by man-made carbon dioxide to a warming driven by methane, Jurgen Mienert, the geology department chair at Norway's University of Tromso, told NBC News."

================

Meanwhile, to read the peer review study from which this report generated, one must pay...so, what it actually states I cannot tell.

It has been reported to us that there was a sharp tremor recorded by USGS monitors at approximately 9:06 last night. The tremor was large enough that the body wave phases could easily be identified. The preliminary location was just SE of Oxy #3 cavern at a depth of 500m. There is no additional information specific to this seismic activity at this time.

10:45 p.m. Seismic Activity Reported
by assumptionla
It has been reported to us that there was a sharp tremor recorded by USGS monitors at approximately 9:06 last night. The tremor was large enough that the body wave phases could easily be identified. The preliminary location was just SE of Oxy #3 cavern at a depth of 500m. There is no additional information specific to this seismic activity at this time.

ENE is carrying it, too.

TV: Giant Louisiana sinkhole now 5.5 acres in size — “I didn’t think it had gotten that big” (VIDEO)

The TV broadcast uses the old August flyover clip in this report making it not look as bad as it currently really does.

Even though it was an old flyover, I am finding that these are actually very helpful. Here's why:

If you look closely at some of the longer flyover videos from very early, you will start to notice the wide swarths of dying trees WELL AWAY FROM the sinkhole itself - whose trees were still verdant green at this time. You will notice that the green circle of trees at the sinkhole have dying trees here and there beyond them, yet, close by. most OF THESE AREAS ARE NOW DEAD, DEAD, DEAD.

THE FOLLOWING VIDEOS ARE GOOD EXAMPLES; the August 9th I had brokne down on another thread, which can be accessed here: Thread: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!! (Page 48)

Aug 9, 2012 3:43 [link to www.youtube.com]
Aug 13 Flyover [link to www.youtube.com] shows same advancing tree deterioration @ 0:29

Aug 23 Flyover 0:52 [link to www.youtube.com]
Right in the opening seconds of this video at 0:02, the area of dead trees can be seen across from the sinkhole area.

This is the general area that I suspect could be ground zero. Still photos from August 25th show sheens on waterways nearby, including suspect areas among the trees which must be saturated due to the shine of the SUN upon them, well away from the sinkhole.

As the copter gets closer 0:07, for a moment you can see that the line of dead/dying trees continues behind and away from the advancing sinkhole.

Still, the trees AROUND the sinkhole have yet to fade, even 3 weeks into this debacle. The sinkhole collapse and whatever chemicals it may have contained had not yet started to kill the trees directly surrounding the sinkhole...at least, any damage was not yet noticeable.

I suspect that the tree die-off around the sinkhole only occured once the land breech was sufficient enough to release whatever had been leaking across the pipeline road which then flooded the sinkhole with massive amounts of hydrocarbons or other, finally killing off the trees around the sinkhole proper.

The barriers that they installed to keep the hydrocarbons from flowing 'into other areas' may have actually stalled the hydrocarbons from flooding INTO the sinkhole area. Once you start looking at these photos with a new perspective, you'll notice oily sheens and other things which, in retrospect, do not compute.

0:38 & 0:48-0:51 You can see the dead areas I am referring to off in the distance, at the top of the screen. In the three weeks since the sinkhole was reported, that area went from ALREADY DYING to DEAD trees, while the trees at the sinkhole - here, on August 23rd - are still fairly viable looking, even though the sinkhole is clearly full of nasty stuff. Again, the still photos cover a much wider area; if you expand the shots to very close up, it is startling.

Sept 19 "Emergency Update" private video [link to www.youtube.com] Right from the beginning you can see the dead/dying areas AWAY from the sinkhole. The narrator sees the same dead area, yet, proposes that the sinkhole is STARTING TO AFFECT this area across the road, YET, I have shown that this was already evident when news of the sinkhole news was reported.

SOOOOOO....WHICH CAME FIRST?

Oct 02 Flyover [link to www.youtube.com] @ 1:06-1:13 trees well beyond are now DEAD, even though sinkhole has NOT reached that far. There are still GREENER trees AT the sinkhole

A FEW STILL SHOTS FROM AUGUST 25th, for illustration:

Sinkhole: [link to www.flickr.com]
Large wet area around my suspect area, across from sinkhole [link to www.flickr.com] Note the dying trees in between.
Oily sheen on water near my suspect area: [link to www.flickr.com] That platform is the same as in the last shot, while the area of fading trees is where the sun caught the moist area. This shot shows a waterway with oily substance on top.
Similar to many other shots: [link to www.flickr.com]

There are hundreds of other photos to look through, which I did last night.

Quite frankly, it was somewhat disconcerting just going through the ones from August 25th, when the sinkhole trees were still green, to reiterate this TELLING point. Those photos cover a very large area, areas well away from the sinkhole, on both sides of highway 70.

If anyone wants to know the potential for HOW FAR the sinkhole is likely to spread...these early photos have a lot to say. They are the baseline to be used. Now that everything is dead, they are invaluable. And, unnerving.
