I feel for the people, I do. But economic hard times are here. This area has hurricanes from time to time. Heavy snow in the winter. Where is the preparation, both from the government and the people that live there? It doesn't cost much to store food and water. Candles, paper supplies? It hasn't been a week yet and people are out of food? I am from the mid-west and I can't understand not being prepared for an emergency. I also don't know how Bloomberg ever became mayor. Hope it gets better there soon.

There are two dynamics going on here, one is the Bloomberg angle in that here is a guy that is just so far in over his head its sad--his default move is to let his press secretary deal with this mess and that right there tells you all you need to know about 99.9% of our elected "leaders."

Storm-ravaged and weary Rockaways residents cornered Mayor Bloomberg yesterday to angrily demand more aid for their devastated neighborhood.

“When are we gonna get some help?” blasted one desperate woman, who had to be held back by the mayor’s security detail as Bloomberg stood by with a deer-in-the-headlights look.

“When are we gonna get some f--king help?” she demanded.

“There’s old ladies in my building that don’t got nothing,” lashed out a man on video caught by a NY1 reporting crew.

Bloomberg’s trip to the Rockaways wasn’t announced and wouldn’t have been caught on cameras if the news crew hadn’t happened to run across him. Back in City Hall, he expressed sympathy with the residents’ plight.

NY1 VIDEO: Mayor Bloomberg toured part of Rockaway Beach Saturday morning and found himself greeted by some angry residents who say they've been waiting for days just to get crews to assess damages in their neighborhood.

Yeah. No kidding.

I'm just curious. They had over a week's notice that this storm was coming. Why didn't people stock up on food, water, essentials? Why weren't the local governments prepared with shelters, medicine, possible generator failures in Hospitals??

Did they miss the news?

Hmm all those cop cars, press vehicles, EMS vehicles and none filled thier trunks with bottled water..... Yup time for NY to get this party started! Go take what you need!

In the past, I was always amazed that enough food and consumables could get into such densely populated areas on an every-day basis--on the good days.

The Governors and the Mayors should have planned in advance to have many truckloads of food and water trucked in to appropriate sites, and leaflets dropped to announce the locations. If they had planned such, they would have been able to deliver to many of the folks by today.

A bottle of water, a can of beans, and a dry blanket can make a lot of difference.

Alot of those people have money in the bank but guess what no power no banking! Take all your cash out of the bank today! This will start happening all over the US! You have been warned!

That is actually about the size of it. Most of these guys in his position are totally out of touch with how the rest of the world lives at the best of times, never mind in a situation like this.

Stores do not carry enough food for everyone in the area to come in during the same time period and buy 2 weeks worth of food. But everyone is so damn judgmental and critical and holier than holy, self righteousness is a reflection of hatred and the devil feeds off it. My small town has enough food for everyone in the town for 3 days... 3 days only! Then they need more shipped in. There never was enough food for everyone to stock up on. Hope you never have to stock up for a bad storm like this, it won't happen. Blame the victims! Blame the victims! And then what? Just let em rot? Oh sweet Jesus who are we?
