A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama
Some people are pushing people to vote for a Libertarian/Third Party candidate - such as Governor Gary Johnson - or worse, to WRITE-IN the name of a person NOT running for any office at all.

A third party candidate such as Governor Gary Johnson could not possibly capture enough electoral college votes between Obama and Romney to actually WIN the presidental election in a few weeks.

Furthermore, the incumbent has played the "race-card" successfully and repeatedly, so the fact that his base would migrate to Johnson is unlikely.

Therefore, the likely result of a Johnson candidacy being pushed would be to take away election popular votes from Romney (not the incumbent) thereby splitting the vote between Republican and Libertarian and giving the majority of the Electoral College to the incumbent ensuring his re-election.

The last time there was even a remotely viable third-party candidate was Ross Perot, and he did not even come close to winning the presidential election.

Oh well. I'll vote for who actually represents me. It's a shame other's won't. But, I'm not going to be stupid and go against my beliefs just because the majority are fools. I'll keep doing whats right year after year, day after day, and hope one day, that you people will do the same.

So, you think it is morally right to give the election to Obama? That is what you will be doing. I appreciate your position, but it is allowing us to continue down a road to our demise as a country. Politics are dividing us...we are all Americans. We must bring the country back together. Obama keeps dividing us. Third party votes ARE a vote for Obama. Let that weigh on your conscious. Keep this in mind...I do not disagree with your morals. Politics in general equal corruption.

I don't think it's morally right for either of them to be in office.

I think anyone who votes for either of them is doing a diservice to their children and the world.

The truth is...one of them WILL win. Pick your poison. A third party WILL NOT win. This has been proven throughout history.

Re: A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama
In other words; they are both part of the status-quo. Romney's biggest donor? Goldman-Sachs...I mean come'on..Yeah, he's not gonna owe them anything for that one.

This whole left, right, left, left, right is absurd. It's been going on for far too long. We are electing the same group of people over and over and nothing changes. The debt has always increased, war and instability has never calmed, regulation and size of government has never shrunk.

No matter which of those two we get, it will be the same. The government will continue to grow, we will continue to go to wars, the debt will continually increase, the amount of control in our lives will continue to grip around our necks.

You want an alternative? You HAVE to go against the grain, as a collective, and actually vote the ALTERNATIVE VOTE. There's no other way around it. It's not supposed to be easy, and even when you know the person you're voting for won't win, you do what's right, because that's the only way.

Once you realize the insignifigance in difference between the two primary candidates, there's absolutely no 'loss' by voting the alternative. I won't feel any less or more better with either of them in office, at least I`ll walk out of the voting booth smiling when I vote the way I feel.

Fear monger much? The truth is unless you are in a swing state, it doesn't matter which way you vote your not changing a thing. At least voting third party you have a chance of getting that party recognized as a legit party w/ all the funding that the other parties. A third party is the only way to blow the left/right paradigm out of the water.

Re: A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama
I agree with all you just said about the candidates being the same except, one actually loves America. I do believe it makes a big difference. I voted third party many times. Nothing changed. The change needs to come well before the election, even before the primaries. Laws and perceptions will need to be changed. All candidates should have equal media coverage and be in the debates. This will not happen this year. I also believe that we need to come together as a collective to make a change. I would support your ideas whole-heartedly. It just cannot make a difference in THIS election. I hope to join hands with you in the future to make a difference.

Gary Johnson gets my vote.

I know he will not win.

I'll be routing for the incumbent though.

Gary Johnson gets me vote. If it wasn't him, I would have wrote in Ron Paul.

Basically what you are saying is that I should ignore who I am, and vote like other people?

You need to decide that for yourself. The information is freely available to those who care to research. Yes, it is difficult to distinguish.

I voted Libertarian and I am just fine with it.

One of these clowns will be elected, but it won't be with my help.

Demo vs. Repub is a boring pointless game that I don't feel like playing anymore.

Realistically, there's only 2 and NO, I don't believe they're EXACTLY the same. I don't care for Romney much, but he's NOT a commie like the other one. So, he's getting my vote.

Re: A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama
It can really matter in the swing states where the vote is still in play.

Third parties traditionally tend to be more conservative and so it is the conservative candidate that loses the votes when they go to third party.

So, yes, they do help Obama in this instance. It splits the conservative votes making a loss for Romney. Few third party people would be voting for bigger government and more regulations we are sure to get under Obama.
One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one.

Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway.

Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy
