I felt it pretty strong just north of Columbus Ohio. My couch was shaking.

Agree.The western 2/3 rds of Ky would feel the NM much more than eastern.No plate boundaries that I am aware of but some old small faults possibly.

Thanks for the reports, it appears it was the backside of the appalachians. Wasn't there a Alabama earthquake straight down from there yesterday....like in that area?

Don't you think that if the New Madrid rupture Kentucky won't feel it strong?

It was felt by some here in Taylorsville, NC (Alexander County - Foothills ... about 2.5 hrs east of Asheville). Folks are posting such on the Taylorsville's Facebook page.

While I did not feel it (unlike last year's VA EQ), I did have a high pitched pulse in my right ear about 20 minutes prior to the EQ that lasted for about 5-8 seconds.

I'm in VA, about 40 miles east of Whitesburg. My floor shook pretty dang hard for about 45 seconds... Everyone in my area, on facebook, is reporting the same thing.

Of course we would feel it terribly but western Ky would be total destruction.

I live in Laurel County, Ky... I rarely post on here, but yesterday evening I was driving home and noticed what looked like a HUGE chunk of rainbow and those white stripes all over the sky, chemtrails? I was gonna take a picture but lost sight of it by the time I got home. Now I wish like hell I would have taken one!

Dauphin Island AL which is also weird. That was all I saw on USGS for a few min. till the Kentucky eq finally showed up
