Is this just EBT, or are all electronic transactions (credit, debit cards) affected too ?

It always amazes me that the people kicking others when they are down are just a job lay off away from being there themselves and act like it could never happen to them.

Some people on Twitter are blaming ROMNEY for the EBT being down, WTF?! Others saying they anticipate riots, wow...

Just got back from store here in FL, very pissed off woman ahead of me in line was arguing with cashier cause her EBT card wasnt working, said it was down Nation wide!! I felt bad for her hungry looking kids!!

Dude, c'mon...there ARE people out there that don't take advantage of the system. I think there are more people that do, but it seems OP is genuine. People fall on hard times.

Because there are no jobs, bankers get billions and you get the bill.

Because Washington DC uses our paychecks as their personal EBT card.

Because, health problems happen.

Because jobless and layoffs in a depression happen.

Because you get old and it becomes hard to even open a jar of peanut butter.

Because they paid for it with their tax money.

Because no old or poor person or child should ever go without food while we spend trillions on jets, tanks, bombs and billions of dhs bullets.

If you take 1/2 of a workers income for life at the point of a gun, they have a right to EXPECT some help.

Please have some human compassion, i promise it will help you sleep at nite.

Btw, not everybody who needs help is like the folks in that bet video, some are your neighbors and others your grandparents.

Also, I am not unfortunate enough to yet need such services, I work like a slave, I am middle class and my preps have cost me a fortune, and perhaps in time my marriage... But it's our duty to take care of our family, and have compassion for our peers, no matter what the system says to divide us.

It's what makes you rise above and stand apart from the banker, bureaucrat and eugenicist.

JP Morgan has reported a technical problem that prevents EBT transactions, food purchases and cash benefit withdrawals at ATM machines from being processed statewide. This problem is also preventing calls from going through to the EBT hotline phone number (1-888-328-6399). JPMorgan and OTDA are working quickly to resolve these problems.

To OP and everyone else who is having a hard time making ends meet: please ignore the ignorant rantings of those on here who have never needed help to get back on their feet. I wonder how many of them claim to be Christians...

And yes, I know that there are plenty who abuse the system...the folks on here don't seem to be among them so calm down.

Anyhow, this outage is potentially a really big deal for the entire US. I couldn't think of a worse time for it to happen, really. Plenty of hungry, desperate people will eventually either get violent or do whatever the govt. tells them to do.

Same glitch made their hotline go down? They must think folks are brain-dead stupid.

You should see some of the Twitter rants blaming Romney and Republicans, so they may think people will believe it. Interesting that not just the technical problems but the hotline is also "down".

To everyone calling people on foodstamps names and blasting them with hate. I am a paramedic, I am employed at 56 hours a week, helping the sick and elderly, and my family still qualifies for foodstamps. Think about that while you are spilling your self-righteous hate. Your policeman, fireman, or ambulance personnel get paid so little we qualify for this benefit. So while you sleep at night and we are selflessly protecting you think on this.

Someone asked earlier if EBT throughout the country has ever been down before...if it hasn't, well...I do wonder if this could help kick things off here in the USA. Perfect timing around the holidays too.

I called around and here in socal, it is still ok.
