...and whose fault is it that useless eaters continue to breed more useless eaters? At least animals will not breed during lean seasons, and most have seasons within their biological clock that they breed in. Humans on the other hand screw 24-7 no matter if they can feed themselves or not, much less another mouth. Sad but true. The ecosystem functioned millions of years before we arrived and will continue to function LONG after we are gone...

God I hope you're being ironic, if you're not, might I suggest going to the library and getting a book on animal behavior. Hopefully one that is pre-Animal Planet!

Re: I just saw a squirrel trying to pull a freshly ran over, dead squirrel off the road with its hands.. made me sad
.

True story:

I have huge pecan trees in my yard, so naturally I have plenty of squirrels.

One day a momma squirrel was chasing her babies up and down
a tree next to my patio. She would catch a baby and take it
back up the tree to her nest... but then another baby would
make a run for it and she would chase that one down too.

This went on for a few minutes, then a baby fell from the
tree on to the patio. I could see it laying there breathing.
Then the breathing stopped.

Slowly the momma squirrel came closer to the dead baby...
then she carried it away towards the alley. Then she did
something remarkable.... she came back to the exact spot
on the patio where her baby had died and she laid on her
stomach with all her limbs spread out. She laid there in
that pose for several minutes like she was mourning her baby.

.

aww thats so sad :-(

I had a momma squirrel who lived in my roof above my apartment and one day I watched her take her babies one by one to the other side of the balcony, she would balance her self on the railing and carry them in her mouth and come back for each one, it was amazing to see her working so hard and she would sit on my balcony and dig thru my plants for food, i never bothered her though she was feeding her babies, i would put food out for her and her little family.

yes the child is starving needlessly we cannot pin this on to one person being at fault but the child should not have to strave. Half of the world is morbidly obese the other half barely alive where is the equality in that sense?

My kids and I witnessed two younger squirrels mourning a dead one on our back road only two weeks ago. It was sad and we were all devastated by the sorrowful sight. I picked the little thing up and put her in the grass and leaves by a tree off the road. My kids picked flowers and clover to put with her. They do have feelings. Dogs have so much dedication it blows my mind how much unconditional love they give.

Life is NOT fair, nor just. However, people should make intelligent decisions based on what facts they have at hand. Fact one for this poor child is that their parents should have thought twice before humping each other (an act that takes TWO) when sex is usually for procreation or pleasure - if pleasure use protection. So the outcome was procreation. Now, if they live in a shitty environment where they as adults are barely making it, how in gods name could they engage in sex with the high probability that a child would be born??????????? Like I said its sad, I am not excusing the situation. No one should suffer, not even animals. Yet as an advanced species people should not bring in children if they cannot feed them or take care of them. This even applies to western cultures that breed kids that the "state" takes care of...

Yeah, I came across a disturbing scene too.
I saw a guy on a country road nealt over the body of a rabbit, he was giving it the kiss of life.
I said leave it mate, it's a gonner.
He turned and looked at me,blood on his face, and he said 'enam yam yam'
