Re: Thousands Of Union Protesters Have Stormed The State Capitol In Michigan To Protest The GOP's Right To Work Bill!!!
why can't BOTH sides get their way?

choice ~ for the ones who want it.
unions ~ for the ones who want it.

why does it have to be 1 or the other?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23367695

I'll tell you why! The right to work workers want everything the Unions have gotten including Union protection without paying a single cent towards these gains. Employers want the Unions gone like the Koch Bros so that they can pay slave wages with no benefits and have the right to fire with no reason given since Michigan is an "at will" State. I started a thread on this 6 days ago and one person replied crowing about factory workers in West MI making $10 to $12 per hour with no benifits no recourse. The stupid idiot didn't even have the intelligence to realise that approximated $18,000 to $19,000 take home which put them at the poverty level as defined.
 Quoting: ANNONYMOUS 8415236

So you don't believe in people having a choice? You think everyone should be FORCED to pay union dues just to work?

Yea, that sounds like you are on the side of freedom...

Yep, the union leaders don't want their union workers to have a choice in anything. They want total control over their sheep. They are fuming mad because these sheep might move onto greener pastures.

You know, I hate unions. But dammit to hell, why is it that those are the only damn people that goes out and raises hell when tyranny hits them.

Because they are sheep, who are herded by the union leaders.

The union leaders tell them to protest, they will even usually transport them to the protest site.

I wouldn't want to belong to a union. Why would I want to pay someone who support values I do not agree with. Unions should stay out of the political business and people would probably like them more. Also, they should work on their negotiating skills cause I would say their tactics with Hostess sucked.

well yea and you are still right. i mean in some countrys they are as corrupt as can be.

the other guy is still just saying its good to have someone look out for you (the unions) instead of you working yourself to death for minimum wage and no healthcare basicly.

you are very right tho. thing could be MUCH better aswell if there was a completly different way to do this.

so one is saying it was better than it was before with the unions. the other is saying is should be much better

just my opinion. in no way am i trying to tell you what you think. its just what im reading in it.

(and yea i dont want you two to go against each other when your both basicly fighting for the same thing. good working conditions for the masses)

The vote was to give the worker a choice. Why is that so hard for many of you to understand?
 Quoting: *HEISENBERG*

What I understand is that as these so called,..."right to work states" take hold, business will flock to them and begin the process of taking away the gains made by unions in the past,...in effect breaking the whole concept of collective bargaining.

The choice is to slit your own working-throat or not,...imo.

Your average worker of the future will be nothing to worry about politically, because he will have no collective bargaining power and grovel to the Big Boss for any hand out job available.

Az is a so called 'right to work' state. What misnomer. Right to work means your employer has the right to fuck the employees in the ass.

Employees in Az can be terminated for good reason, poor reason, or no reason at all.

This guy is right. you can be fired for no reason at all. No reason like: Not showing up to do your job, Drinking on the job, smoking pot on the job. See, all no reasons to be fired. If you pay your union dues, they will ensure you keep your job no matter what you don't do.

I love unions! Especially the IBEW that gave $110 million to the campaign of our fine Prez. All dat free money dat dey got from da union brothas and gave to our president who single handed saved this economy from the previous administration. He was clear and made it his number one priority to save da jobs and economy...been there done dat bitches! I want me a union like da one at chrysler. So's I can smoke me some dope at my one hour paid lunch. I want me a union like da operating engineers in MN(one of the other evil right to work state)that let da workers go witout a contract at the MAC for 18 months and then negotiated a pay freeze and at da same time increasing unions dues...NOW DAT'S what I'm talkin bout! I want me a union that has da "international" cuz dat's where dey tell me da money goes! Shiaaaat mofo's I be movin to michigan to buy me a cheap house in deeeetroit and work wit my union brothas at GM....oh shit dat's right dey be laying off due to high wages...ummm....I be goin to california to join my union brothas at Campbells soup...oh shit dats right...dey be closin.....nevermind.

Your FACTS are flawed,..imo. But,I am simply giving my opinion and not making public policy.

I would argue that you only get the benefits you admire, because unions fought for them in the past, and made a standard that is adhered to by employers like yours now. Without strong Unions through, all that will begin to dry up.

Forcing me to do anything encroaches on the freedoms gained by people, who through blood, sweat and tears, fought and won freedom of choice and speech for the American citizen in the past,... that today's entitlement controlled goverment slave takes for granted,... while pissing it all away in the now.
 Quoting: LunaticFringe

As far as I know, most Unions jobs pay really well. People want them and covet them for this reason. Now, you feel "forced" to want one of these jobs and have to pay your dues.

Why not work Wal-Mart then, they do not force you to pay anything, because they offer little return.

Fucking commies make you pay a "union dues" each year to shop at SAM's club but you don't bitch about that.

Must be a generational thing going here, all seems crystal clear to me,...

Maybe it time I had a couple of cold ones.

and who's thinking about the good of the public?
unionistas are a significant minority, and they demand raises that increase wages for them, prices for everyone and NO benefit for the rest of the public.
Not to mention that the public that hires the unionistas has no control over them, because the pols side with the unionistas that shower them with perks and money if they abandon the majority

their STUPID prop 2 on 'collective bargining' FAILED big time. Those fucks thought that if they called it collective bargining that the rest of MI didn't know that THE UNIONS were behind it. And not only that those fucks wanted to have it put in our (MI) constitution.....

They failed on so many levels and they will fail again tomorrow when Snyder signs it.laugh

Get your asses back to work you're not getting paid to stand around - oh wait, yes you are, You're union workers.

those thousands of fucks storming Lansing should put that kind of time into protesting for something that serves all the people instead of just themselves- like maybe, not letting a person run for office who isn't fully vetted and hides their history!
