As a mom with a son who has Aspergers...As well as an RN who has worked in psych wards...I KNOW that these kids can't be capable of this...unless there is an underlying disorder or mental illness...these kids can't stand to hear loud noises for one thing..I think this kid, even if diagnosed as Aspergers, which I don't think he was properly diagnosed..as some kids are not..case in point: ADD, which my son was originally DX'd with...anyway..these kids cant drive either.

A few hours ago I had CNN on as I was doing things in the background. I was halfway listening, and I kept hearing "mental health issues" repeated over and over.

I am also noticing they are promoting the idea that people who tend to keep to themselves need to be watched.

So since people tend to parrot what they hear on the tv, we will be seeing and hearing from people that smart people are dangerous and need to be put away.

It's sick as heck. My dad, me, my 3 children have Aspergers, and the least thing we are is emotionless. It's sickening to hear. All of us are hardworking and successful with comfortable homes and great families. None of us ever committed even a petty crime...oh wait, I stole a chocolate bar in a store when I was 10.

I too am shy, extremely intelligent, and have mood swings sometimes because its hard to cope with being on this really strange planet with all the violence and manipulation. I am hugely emotionally sensitive, and can read and sense other people like it's a superpower. I spend my days reading and learning endlessly, and this puts my point of view and opinions in drastic opposition to mainstream society's views. If i was observed for an extended period of time by a psychiatrist they would have me committed (those fuckers), but im just being myself, and definately NOT HURTING ANYONE. As i said above, im extremely sensitive, and i genuinely love everyone, so hurting isn't even an option.

I don't believe I'm "autistic", in fact, i think all the labels are part of the endless charade of making sure that every single human emotion or personality type is labelled a "mental disorder" by the psychiatric community. A "problem" that needs to be "reacted" to with the "solution" of numbing all feeling away from people with presciption drugs.

My partner and his son have both recently been diagnosed with Aspergers. My partner is a very gentle soul who has worked as a nurse, he would not harm a fly! His son is very intelligent but has had a lot of problems fitting in at school, fortunately the right support has been given by school staff and the special needs unit.

I agree with a previous poster that there is more to this story. I suspect the killer was possibly abused or neglected. Possibly he was on a medication not right for him and it definitely sounds as if he did not have much support from the school system.

Most importantly, how was he able to get hold of such high powered weapons? Where are the checks and balances?
