The fiscal cliff is a lie made up by a bunch of assholes meant to cause fear (oh no, we might go over a cliff!), so that when the assholes offer their big compromise solution, you'll only have to take 8 inches up the ass instead of 12.

Basically, in order to get a debt ceiling limit raised a couple years ago congress reached a deal that at the end of 2012 there would be $600 billion cut from government spending and the Bush Tax cuts/breaks would expire.

So, if they do nothing then supposedly they must cut $600 billion in spending and the wealthier middle class will start paying a lot more taxes. I think there are some capital gains tax issues as well, so close to the end of the year ppl might sell stocks so they can avoid the capital gains taxes next year.

I think that is the issue, I'm sure someone more saavy could explain it better.

That is where the money goes down immediately $600 billion. That makes your money worth less, that makes tax cuts of previous years disappear so it raises taxes for almost everyone, and that is where you pay more into SS I think and other things that have not been happening since the Bush tax cuts in earlier years and all of that stuff.

If they can not reach an agreement of course coming up in the next few days to run the Govmint with next year. (or years later and of course because of the National Debt - in which case they been spending more than they earn for quite a while nowadays, and it is catching up with them, where about everyone else takes a hit because of their faulty book keeping of prior years. Gotta pay for the stuff, they spent money on, plus the printing of money, and making the stock market a bull market, which in fact, DOES NOT CREATE JOBS in ObamaNation with its ObamaCare (which you end up paying more anyway in the future due to changing the rate at what people pay for - use to be less)!
