if you think Plato is the world's only mention, then you need to go do some reading.

if you've read the context of the tale in Timeus and Critius, you'd realize that that is not the context in which Atlantis is spoken of.

good luck having a non-government agency getting together enough cash to pay a fleet of people to do the most dangerous job on the planet.

Good luck with that. Maybe somewhere in Sumerian clay tablet but the term may be different for atlantis due to tricky translation/interpretation. That's about as far as we can go for recorded data. Something obviously bad happened 12,000-13,000 years that may have ended advanced civilization (Alantis?). That happened to be the end of Ice Age. What ended it? Who knows? Maybe this plasma event? For starters...

The Bible is far more accurate then even most Christian's realize, bear with me and I'll explain how this supports the legend of Atlantis. They just don't yet understand the accuracy of what it is teaching. Its a guidebook teaching us about our own genetics and how to evolve into greater Beings, and it is full of more truths about our past (some in metaphors) then we've yet to fully understand.

The Ancient Egyptians.

They were far far more knowledgeable on this matter then we may ever know.

They did not just talk about Atlantis...

Look up Phaeton, the son of Helios.

In Plato's Timaeus, Critias tells the story of Solon's visit to Egypt shortly after Solon was elected archon in 594 B.C. Solon was puzzled by the fact that the Greeks had no history prior to the Trojan War and told the Egyptians that history must begin with the first man (Phoroneus) and woman (Niobe) and after the Deluge with Deucalion and Pyrrha. To which the Neith priest, identified by Plutarch as Sonchis the Saite, said,

The ancient Egyptians knew! They tried to tell and teach other civilizations who visited them.

1. They knew that Mankind had suffered destruction many times before, and will suffer more destruction in the future.

2. They knew the worst of these destructions comes by fire and water.

3. The book in the Bible, 2 Peter Chapter 3, tells of the various destructions of mankind and the Earth, specifically the worst being by water and fire. So the Bible backs up what this ancient Egyptian Priest said...

4. The Egyptians knew that these destructions coincided with celestial events but that they recur over such long periods of time, they have become little more then myth... fairy tales, to us...

I believe in the possibility of a Lost City called Atlantis.

I believe there is a considerable amount of history to our world that we do not yet know or understand.

The Book of Genesis alone covers of period of possibly 2000 - 3000 years, before the story of Moses and the Exodus takes place.

Look how much "man" has advanced in the last 2000 years.

Yet Genesis remains very vague on the details of civilization during that period, except that it became so bad, that God chose to destroy it.... by how?

By water!

We always see Pyramids above water and under from civilizations past, but as a human race in our time, last 2000 years, we have never built Pyramids, so I think until we understand why they did, we are far from understanding the bigger picture of life.
