Sig Sauer (OP) User ID: 32438782 United States 01/29/2013 04:08 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I may be confused, but as far as I can tell they are not taking away our second amendment right, no where does it say we have the right to owning military grade assault rifles. Also, Bush had already passed a law banning assault rifles and it has lapsed, which is why they were once again available for sale. I live in Ada county, and I for one am glad the Sheriff isn't stupid enough to get caught up in all the fear mongering. We were without assault rifles for YEARS, nothing happened, except for maybe a few less mass shootings. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31027403 Yea, well hello there neighbor. I live in 2C, and would you mind defining "a military grade assault rifle" for me? Lets start with that. Here I'll help you out. An assault rifle is a selective fire (selective between fully automatic, semi-automatic, and burst fire) rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. |

Let me respectfully remind you that we are the federal government, the state government and the local government. I did not swear to uphold just part of the Constitution. Anonymous Coward User ID: 26194713 United States 01/29/2013 05:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | During the first decades of our country, and up into Andrew Jackson's presidency, all laws passed by congress had to be examined by the Supreme Court and verified as proper and legal within the boundaries established by the constitution. Quoting: Crazy Harriet After this was changed, by a corrupt congress (long story - had to do with them using public money to get re-elected), the congress was freed from its leash and their rulings began to deviate further and further from the original document until they now bear no resemblance whatsoever to the initial boundaries in which they could legislate. That Idaho sheriff is twisting logic and words to meet a corrupt agenda. He knows better, but is working towards a dark end. The problem with the people determined to overthrow this country and establish their globalist dream is that they don't care at all about the laws of the United States, or how their actions will effect the lives of the people in their jurisdiction. It's anything for the globalists, lie cheat steal whatever, as long as the desired outcome is achieved. The constitution lays out limited jurisdictions in which different groups can legislate. There are a few for the federal government, some for the states and the rest reserved for the people (individual choices). The congress can no more legislate on guns than I can order my neighbor, a Muslim from Africa, to eat pork for breakfast. I have no jurisdiction on her household. The sheriff knows better. That's key here. |

There are many, many, bills that have been passed which severely impinge on our freedoms and rights yet it was eerily quiet. I guess they just have to use the excuse it's to protect us from terrorists and everyone shuts up, or doesn't even realize there's a problem. I think they should have tougher screening, as in if you've ever had a domestic violence charge, a battery charge etc. no gun for you. I really don't think it's fair that we lose rights because of a few idiots, but that has been the prevailing trend since 9/11. I am of course a conspiracy nut, so I do question many issues revolving around the gun issue, however, I don't really think what they are proposing does anything, it's already a law and they are adding a few things to it. But, there has been a startling trend toward taking away our rights, one by one and quietly, so I do have the thought in the back of my mind that IF they were up to something, than this would be a good start. |
