The lower the pressure; the stronger the storm. 940 millibars is lowest recorded pressure ever recorded for an Atlantic Storm when Sandy hit us. OK....940 millibars is BAD. Watch this one.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26874890

yes that's why i'm very very worried... people are still recovering from Sandy!
 Quoting: Luisport

I am in the Sandy effected area. There is no talk of this at all. Do you have access to the European Models???? It is Thursday and people need time to get ready; drag out the generators, stock up supplies. We had the jet stream coming down our throats today. I swear, I hate the sound of wind, these days.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26874890

There is talk of it now on the radio - snow starting Sunday night and another hit on Tuesday.

About 4,000 people without power due to the heavy winds Wed. night.

Was looking for this thread this morning - waiting for another update from Luisport.

Seriously LP - you should be GLP's official meteorologist.

Thank you as usual for the heads up.

Like Laura, I don't think I could stand more bad weather - the winds last night were insane - worse, and more frightening than Hurricane Sandy.

Today was the first day we've seen the sun for over a week... .

 Quoting: JanJan

well this is more than bad weather... a 967mb low nor'easter is a very dangerous storm! Big sustained wind gusts, heavy rain, big power outages, big waves in coast...
 Quoting: Luisport

Well, that's just great!! Should I anticipate more trees being blown down? I have a guy outside right now cutting the tree off our house and cutting it up the rest of the way. There's one other tree next to the house that could fall...like I said, I don't want any more bad weather!!

If Accuweather is correct, the Northeast probably won't get much of anything, at least along the Jersey Shore. It is the storms that come up the coast, originating in the South that cause us the most trouble. A real Nor'easter would be very destructive to us though.

Air too cold for severe weather in NAM.

Looks like it'll neagtively tilt and bomb in the Canadian maritimes.

Looks like the winds will generate heavy lake-effect snow but not much elsewhere.

Clippers usually don't dump too much snow.

They are saying that late Sunday night snow begins and it depends on the temp whether or not it will be a lot of snow and that it may swing around and hit us again on Tuesday. This is for NW CT - by the shore.bumpbumpbump

As usual, I don't know what those charts mean so is this supposed to hit Va or farther north?
 Quoting: Ollo

it will hit all the area sandy hit... VA too...
 Quoting: Luisport

ah last week we were supposed to have a storm rapidly develop off the coast and guess what...NOT..it developed to far off the coast to bother anyone in the northeast with precipitation. In fact the "weather guys" had to explain how they blew it so badly...

it is always.. this COULD HAPPEN as well as MIGHT NOT...
