My current ex, tried snooping through my facebook account when I was in the shower Sunday. So, when I was with my Uncle at the bar Sunday night watching the Super Bowels, er Bowl, I get a text from her asking if I had been talking to an old friend of mine that I had known since she was fifteen.

Needless to say, my current ex has two kids, by two separate guys. The youngest, a boy - his father is gone in prison for an unknown amount of years now for trafficking guns.

We were supposed to be taking it slow - but real life circumstances have expedited her expected responses from me. Such as us moving in together. Which ain't happening because April 2012 - I just got out of a five year long term relationship that nearly cracked me mentality. I had a great job and now I'm struggling to keep my internet and lights on.

So this old friend comes along and yes she is a female and yes I do have feelings for her. I confront my ex telling her that I need some time to think because she has so many expectations on me. I want kids and she already has two and how selfish is it of me to expect her to have two more? Secondly, I cannot accept her children as my own because, it is REALLY hard. The oldest is a girl who HAS a dad in her life and the children treat me like a rug.

So, I back out of it this weekend reconsidering everything. Naturally Saturday she wanted to drink and party, so we did, lightly, end up back at my place and of course naturally she wants a little more of me.

I give because, I do like her but there is too much history with her. Also the first night we met, I had picked her up and we went to our usual watering hole. Later that night her ex shows up stalking the scene and naturally she ran back to him and slept with him.

Sadly, though, she pleaded how she cared and how she fucked up and I was pretty forgiving and let it go. But now, it's like no. You're not going to tell me who I can and cannot talk to! You sit on facebook all the time talking to people! How is this any different? Ya know, those kind of feelings.

So anyways, she texts me Sunday saying 'Has that XXXXXXX chick tried talking to you.'

Well shit...

What was I to say? This is one of those... damned if you do, damned if you don't. I am not sure why she would just randomly ask me this, but I stew on it for a min before giving an answer.

Prior to this, I had sent a text to the friend on Friday, because of the things I am involved in, I don't have much time anymore to be a partyer, not that I ever was, but I notice - chicks love to 'dance'. But regardless, I simply asked, 'Would I even have a chance of being with you?'

Naturally, she did not answer this which I took as good or bad.

Prior to this episode, her and I go back a min when a similar event like this happened. Now, it is like replay all over again. I know the chick I was with (as of yesterday) was playing me, I couldn't put my finger on it but I knew some how some way she was pulling the wool over my eyes.

Any how, the other never responded back to the text and when I was asked 'Has that XXXXXXX chick tried contacting you?'

I said, naturally, no - why?

She said, don't lie.

I said, what has you believing otherwise?

She says, because I know.

Great, dug in a hole and mind you ANY time she has found a moment to doubt - she has. And I have been nothing but supportive up until she basically forced me into a corner of making a decision of whether I would raise her kids as my own - while the one father 'sits' in prison and the other smokes green all day but doesn't pay child support.

I said - fuck it. I told her that, we are done. There is no point in doing this anymore honestly.

Naturally, I feel set up. Was the other girl talking to her? The same kind of shit happened a few months back with her! So I forward the other girl the text and she says how does she know me and all these other questions. Honestly, I am as confused as her, but I like this chick a lot and if I could have a chance to slowly be with her - I would.

Nope, that shit blows up in my face too. She tells me I'm a piece of shit and a worthless friend. The other says I'm a liar, while she sits and talks to guys on Facebook.

These bitches are fucking insane. They think their pussies made of gold!

Married 10 years, divorced one week after my ex relinquished custody of my 3 month old son. I thought giving up child support was a fair tradeoff for strife and violence he brought to the table. Packed up the car 4 months pregnant, traveled 1,000 miles away from him and had my son alone.
All for the sake of less pointless drama.

I was cauterized at that time from ever trusting anyone or giving some schmuck the opportunity to derail my peace and life off the tracks into a kind of prisonlike hell. Took me another decade to quit jumping at bushes.

My ex brought nothing to the relationship, no desire to be a father (to become a responsible adult), make a home (we rented) and would never help reach a decision that effected us both...nope, he handed over all the power of decision making to me then went into escalating rages and serial cheating for giving me no choice but to carry it all myself and get angry for handing over the power he himself refused to take.

So no, I have a visceral impulse to run from men, I can't help it. I actually love men, but have experience only with one that was the equivalent of dragging someone by the ankle through what could have been a reasonable and kind partnership.
I have no problem nursing a man through his problems and owies, but not when he's riding my coattails coasting and using violence and abandonment to distract from how useless he is.

Not having that distress is a gift that keeps on giving to this day. My son is the best a mother could ask for, and looks like my side of the family which is a plus (even though however my boy 'looked like' wouldn't have mattered.

I'm glad I learned this at twenty-six and not thirty or forty.

I will stay single forever. Had my part of wrong relationships. But if I ever would marry someone it has to be Eat...

He could protect me from at least all earthquakes...

This takes a certain type of shallow woman to match a certain shallow type of man. There won't be a shortage of either any time soon.

As a woman I have to say I have not once in my life pursued a guy for money or found myself attracted for that reason.

In fact there is no one who gets to be friend status with me of either sex who are that soulless inside.

I think alot of people here would have a fulfilling relationship. The times are changed. It's gone full mystical the dream is real mode and sadly only a few can see it.

I'm in this club; I've found women either have some nasty VD and or some psychological/personality disorder. Narcissist Personality Disorder being a big one. I've never had an STD (I'm 43) and have already been down the psycho road more than once. I'm out; not even looking.

I did that about 20 years ago. Then met my husband a few years later LOL. Neither of us were looking LOL.

I don't know if I've 'resigned' myself to be single, but there are definitely pros and cons of being married (I am divorced.) From a woman's point of view, most older guys have zero sense of humor. I can't stand being with guys who cannot crack a smile.

But, I have faith that if I'm to be married again, God will arrange the right guy to be there. If not, no biggie. I miss dinner out conversations, though. That was always fun.

Many, many women have not changed in the ways you are describing.
They enjoy real life ( including GLP). They sew. They read.
They worry about inflation. And they wish for a man.

I was alone not by choice for a LONG time. Mutual friends led us to a blind date - the wedding was 5 years ago.

So do not lose hope for the kind of life you wish to lead.

There was a thread a while back about a woman who was a shepherd somehere in the British Isles. Sounds like a nice life to me!

Sorry to brag here but I have to say after reading this that I felt the same 17 years ago before I met my husband. I was only 27 then but wanted a monogamous relationship and all the guys I seemed to be interested in were losers. I hate to be harsh, but my taste kind of sucked.
My husband is wonderful. He works, he's brilliant, he's kind and encourages my dreams. He's great with the kids (most of the time) helps out around the house and we have the same goals in life.
The one thing I wanted to mention, is that he has aspergers. I think if I ever lost him, I'd have to be with another aspie. He's in the back room playing world of Warcraft right now, but its no worse than me on here.
I think now, it's harder to find a quality mate because people seem to be looking for fun and stuff, you know, the boat on the weekend kind of life. But that's not what makes a home. It's the (boring) guy who pays his bills before he takes you out for a pricey dinner. It's the guy who goes home to feed the dog before going to happy hour. He's the guy who will make a home. I don't think my female friends appreciate those guys enough.
