During TMI programs Timeline and Starlines / SL2, doing in effect a remote viewing on 2020 and 2012, this item came up last round: something associated more with 2013, than 2012. I am not one to subscribe to prophesies and catastrophic hyperbole, and I am not stating this as such. [link to www.galactichuman.com] |

DracoLX User ID: 1137071 Portugal 02/05/2013 08:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why would nature give you a fuckin' break? Why do you think we chemical laboratories and laser spectrographs? You can't tell what something is made off by just looking at it. So, if you can’t say precisely what it’s made of how can you assure that it won’t act like a magnet? Because it hasn't so far. Magnetic fields in space are pretty damned weak anyway. Neither you can be 100% sure it won’t land right up yours…. I'm not 100% sure you're not a spambot, rather than human. But that would require the existence of software that can mimic "GLPer" with great fidelity. So it is not a "possibility" worth entertaining. This is the sort of thing people use to say "barring an act of God" about. There's nothing known that could cause this thing to alter its orbit to the degree necessary to hit us. Maybe a micro-blackhole zips by, maybe the Mighty Thor is in a bad mood, maybe Celestia feels trollish today. Why should we worry about stuff like that. you know that all the so called 100% proof error programs at JPL are man made? Quoting: Portuguese Coward 1137071 You know that even the brightest mind can do a "simple" mistake? These methods have been tested tens of thousands of times. Yet it is known that humans are prone to miscalculations. Than do your own calculations. The data used is public. The science used is public. The mathematics used is public. Now in a more constructive way, Halcyon, you´d be more usefull in your answers if you could be polite enough to enlighten some of us that don’t have so much knowledge as you. Quoting: DracoLX 1137071 Than ask specific questions. How am I supposed to know what it is you don't know. And apparently "you're wrong" isn't something you want to hear. I'm Halcyon Dayz and I log in automatically. No one can say its going hit and no one can say its going miss untill 48 hours before miss or hit. Quoting: UK Coward 33314783 Where did you find this nugget of nonsense? even money if you want to put your house on it for a miss with ten days to go. Quoting: UK Coward 33314783 come and Bet I WANT YOUR DEEDS Since I rent can we make it €500? I wouldn't want to bankrupt you. (Although that would teach you a lesson.) So Halcyon, first things first. Now i am identified with my nickname here on GLP, i'm not a bot and i want to be wrong when i say that this comet can be pulled by earth's magnetic field. You say that magnetic fields in space are pretty damned weak and by that fact earth magnetic field didn't act like a magnet yet. TRUE!!!!! Yet this rock isn't close enough to suffer from magnetic pull. Now... it will pass closer than some orbiting satellites, right? If these satellites stay in orbit farther away why can't this comet be pulled in when we can't say what is made of? I'm not a science guy so i don't know how to do that kind of math that you're suggesting me to do. If i knew that i would be here backgrounding you with more specific data or backgrounding the guys that are saying it will hit. If you read carefully what i wrote you will notice that i didn't said that this comet will hit us. But... there is a slightly chance that it could hit. Damn... it could even enter and leave our atmosphere due to it's mass and velocity! I take nothing for granted, that's for sure. My point is simple... i don't like fear mongers neither shills. Let's all look at this baby with a grain of salt shall we? Last Edited by DracoLX on 02/05/2013 08:16 AM Cheers, Draco |

It could be propaganda to keep us civilized. Use your critical thinking skills and realize that the government cannot save us, only themselves; so why would they release the real data? I'm not saying this stuff is not the real data, because we all obviously have no way of knowing... and that's the point. We have no way of knowing. And unfortunately, this person could not have said it better: |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 31781644 If they were so concerned with mass hysteria and deception why say anything at all and leave room for that? Makes nO sense if you are trying to prevent mass hysteria they would not even hint that it would get close for impact. Doubt spawns as much fear as ignorance. Unfortunately for you, nasas predictions have been more accurate than failed glp predictions on here lately. I think if the govt controlled nasa fully or there was a true risk of danger, you wouldnt hear a damn thing period. |

Could you imagine the mayhem, if they did Those with small minds would make chaos in those last hours Just prepare hope for the best prepare for the worst |
Halcyon Dayz, FCD User ID: 31033756 Netherlands 02/05/2013 09:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Quoting: HD Better than that friend why not pay it into my paypal on 13 feb i will give you my paypal account on that date, then your on. That's not how it works, buddy. With bets between strangers the money is put in escrow up front. So are you willing to put your money where your mouth is? So Halcyon, first things first. Now i am identified with my nickname here on GLP, i'm not a bot Quoting: DracoLX I never entertained the idea you were. It's one of those things you can image, but would know that they couldn't possibly be true. and i want to be wrong when i say that this comet can be pulled by earth's magnetic field. Quoting: DracoLX It's an asteroid. If it were a comet it would by outgassing this close to the Sun. You say that magnetic fields in space are pretty damned weak and by that fact earth magnetic field didn't act like a magnet yet. TRUE!!!!! Quoting: DracoLX Yet this rock isn't close enough to suffer from magnetic pull. Just like gravity magnetism obeys the inverse square rule. That means the intensity is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source of that force. I.E. at double the distance the force has 1/4 the strength. This thing is effected by Earth's magnetism at the same rate as by Earth's gravity whatever the distance. The Sun has a magnetic field as well, btw. So far this object has moved exactly like a free-falling object only effected by gravity would. Now... it will pass closer than some orbiting satellites, right? If these satellites stay in orbit farther away why can't this comet be pulled in when we can't say what is made of? Quoting: DracoLX It is pulled in. By Earth's gravity. All the time. Just not fast enough for it not to miss. As pointed out above gravity doesn't just stop at a certain distance as some people seem to believe. It goes on forever, at ever decreasing strength. Celestial mechanics isn't some sort of arcane knowledge. The calculations themselves can get complicated, but the principles are simple. The only relevant force is gravity. Gravity doesn't care what you are made off. All atoms fall at the same rate. And of course the gravity of Earth is taken into account. I'm not a science guy so i don't know how to do that kind of math that you're suggesting me to do. Quoting: DracoLX Which leaves you with how much you trust the people that do. Luckily it is a very large and diverse group. There are people in Iran, South Africa, Mali, and North Korea (to just to name a few places), who all get the same results. If you read carefully what i wrote you will notice that i didn't said that this comet will hit us. But... there is a slightly chance that it could hit. Quoting: DracoLX Unless something magical occurs not this time around. Damn... it could even enter and leave our atmosphere due to it's mass and velocity! Quoting: DracoLX That would be cool. But not this time around. I take nothing for granted, that's for sure. My point is simple... i don't like fear mongers neither shills. Let's all look at this baby with a grain of salt shall we? Quoting: DracoLX Having a basic understanding of astronomy and celestial mechanics would help you to separate the B.S. from the facts. Reaching for the sky makes you taller. Hi! Dr. Astro Senior Forum Moderator User ID: 33360181 United States 02/05/2013 09:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NO ONE can be 100% sure if it will miss or hit earth. Stop bullshitting and fear spreading FFS!!!!! I'm not saying it will hit. But i can't exclude the chance that this sucker can be pulled in by earth's gravitational field. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1137071 That's because you haven't done the math. I have. So have others. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 26420358 United States 02/05/2013 09:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can't with 100% certainty say that the sun won't go supernova tommorow. It doesn't mean I can't say that I am quite sure it will not happen, just like I can say I am quite sure we won't be hit by an asteroid. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9266723 Just wear a football helmet on the 15th. A lil preacautian can't hurt, and your friends will be both amused and envious. He already wears a helmet.
