Police Officer Slaps US Soldier

I'm not as sure about that as you are.

Two officers:

representing and backed by the power of the state,

in body armor,

with weapons,

slugging and kneeing a smaller guy who's upset after just being beaten up by a bunch of other guys,

One officer bragging about being a Marine. That really bothers me. He's there because he's an officer of the law, not because he's a warrior.

It really does look like bullying by an official to me.

At least we have the video to review and discuss.

If he is truly a Soldier, he did not act like one. Him and his fist-line supervisor NCO both need adjustments. NCO's are Leader/Trainers, and this Soldier is clearly lacking the mentorship of a Good NCO.

1. My Soldiers, don't get mouthy and disrespectful with "State-side" Law Enforcement.

2. My Soldiers would have fought back, like a Combat Soldier.

3. My Soldiers would have Called Me before dialing 911 and I would have brought the necessary Man-Power to deal with whatever situation arises.

4. If the Local Policing Force needs the Adjustment, the adjustment would come at a time they least expect it and it would be overwhelming and overpowering. Just like we did back at Fort Polk, LA in the 1990's

*After seeing the video of the Former Marine/Police SGT. act as he did, I would have counseled my Soldier and had him work for the Police department a few weekends in their Motor pool as corrective training

The Former Marine/Police SGT. made an "On the Spot Correction" and even excepted the young disrespectful Soldiers apology.

Bad cop makes them all look bad. Takes 6 weeks to get certified to be a cop, so we have all these idiots roaming the streets.

An air conditioning tech needs 18 months.

That officer is a scumbag.

He cheapshots an obviously mentally unstable guy who CALLED THEM! Glad the two policemen lost their job.

I didn't see enough of the video to give a 100% opinion. If the kid stepped into my face one of us would have gotten our asses kicked. There are many ways to get a guy to the ground...I couldn't see enough of what happened to know if it was appropriate.

The kid was a smart ass from the start though.

What everyone is forgetting here is that this guy had just been robbed. I'd be fucking annoyed at a 45 minute wait time too, which is basically what he said, the cop stepped up to him and then hit him. That's assault, regardless of the guys attitude this should not be allowed to happen. I could understand if the cop was defending himself but he wasn't. He was the aggressor. If a cop will fly off the handle at something small, what would he do in other situations, shoot first ask questions later.

You should not be accepting of these qualities in your police force!

I show respect for everyone until they prove they don't deserve it. I said this would have gone down the same way if these two were in a bar in plain clothes. This has nothing to do with defending/supporting cops. The kid was looking for a fight and he just picked the wrong guy.

It is possible the cop went too far but none of us can tell that in this video.

But he wasn't looking for a fight, he'd just been robbed and the police had taken 45 minutes to get there. Would you not be slightly angry and full of attitude after someone trying to take all your fucking stuff, only to have the police take an age to get there? The cop assaulted him without physical provocation plain and simple.

You are ushering in a police state by accepting such despicable behaviour. He had called for the police's assistance, not called them to get handcuffed and arrested.
