How are men expected to man up when they aren't given the opportunity? Nowadays, if a man tried to be the leader of his family, he would be considered some kind of mental or emotional abuser, instead of just being the rock. Until women take a step back, look at the big picture, and see what's needed in a family for it to work, things are just going to get worse. Women have a much bigger role in correcting this.

Men, and particularly young men, were the early adopters of internet porn. But the problem is becoming more widespread. As porn becomes more matter-of-fact, more women will begin to use it. They will fall into its trap, too.

I have a friend who is an ER doc. She regularly prepares toxicology reports. There is an unusually large number of people who die at home, alone, naked, watching porn. This is the epidemic of our time. None of the other responses to your little poll come anywhere near internet porn in explaining "failure to launch" as our culture is currently experiencing it.

Boys think better than women ... they are NOT as much "in the box" thinkers (which is one thing that drives the females that staff and run the now very feminized educational system bonkers). Because of the thinking skill boys almost across the board see through the current charade of society with it's heavy emphasis on GURL POWER and simultaneous emphasis that ALL MEN ARE BAD AND DUMB UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE. They are are consciously and subconsciously just dropping out from a game that is totally stacked against them since they understand that no matter how hard they work IT DOESN'T MATTER ... the game is STACKED AGAINST THEM.

My own older son is a good example of this. He just flat out said that there was no sense in his going to college since if he did when he would get out, even if his grades were OK, "ONLY THE GIRLS WOULD GET JOBS" (his exact words). Unfortunately HE IS MOSTLY RIGHT!!

In high school he dated a fair amount, since high school HE HAS REFUSED TO DATE AT ALL, since as he put it: "It is too risky" (girls with babies rabies, girls making false accusations, girls who have lots of money still expecting the guy to pay for everything, girls always putting down the guys who are not at the top of the heap -- these are all reasons HE gave me).

If I was a male in my early to mid 20's like he is I think I would probably feel the same way. The game today IS stacked against males ... and they are deciding that a low level lifestyle is OK with them ... as long as they can avoid the monetary pitfalls that come with dating most women or having kids.

OP, you raised a very good point with your post. However, I feel your own bias is preventing you from realizing the magnitude of the problem.

You want to say, "this generation plays too many video games and sees too much porn, so it prevents them from launching."

I'd say it's the opposite. "This generation of young men are so screwed, fuck it, they may as well watch porn and play video games."

Its because there is no source of life values ingrained in the younger generations. No drive, no understanding of the need to work hard to live, and to bust their ass to learn a skill to make a living. And a big problem is blaming anything other then themselves. Well they can blame the parents and the school system and society as a whole, but look the freak around how the world works, and bust your ass to create your place in it, or... fall to the wayside.

Option A: work 50-60 hours a week at a job you probably hate to support a soul sucking wife and a money sucking child and the only enjoyment I get out of it all is sex.

Option B: Don't buy into option A like a mindless sheep and work an easy dead end job live at home buy everything I want and continue to save money until around age 30 when I have a decent amount saved and can go find a worthwhile job and live on my own and live off the money I have saved.

It's not that I've given up it's that I plan to enjoy my 20's and not spend them raising children and buying into a completely fucked system that fucks us all and supports the 2% like so many other mindless idiots I know. I'll launch when i'm goddamn ready to launch and not a moment sooner.
