More and more cities will be using these systems as time goes on. |

But if you have GPS in your car, you're already tracked. |

DOJ will do the usual and say its to stop terrorists or blood thirsty gang members and most americans will just look the other way...just like every other time the government decides to take away your civil liberties |

There is a coordinated effort to get the truth out. The next major revelation will be that every auto manufacturer signed off on an agreement to make every car manufactured after 2008 able to be remotely piloted. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 42838290 United States 07/17/2013 10:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | [link to rt.com] Quoting: Anonymous Coward 39744571 The American Civil Liberties Union has released documents confirming that police license plate readers capture vast amounts of data on innocent people, and in many instances this intelligence is kept forever. According to documents obtained through a number of Freedom of Information Act requests filed by ACLU offices across the United States, law enforcement agencies are tracking the whereabouts of innocent persons en masse by utilizing a still up-and-coming technology. I happen to be a geek and I keep all my stuff forever. Am I ever going to use this stuff in the future? For the most part NO! This is what geeks do. All of the License plate numbers etc., etc., etc fall into the hands of geeks. Do you think they're any different from me? NO! |

The fact that this is a surprise is shocking. I am just becoming bewildered by how stupid people are. You know, the real story was this. You've been backtraced. |

Black Diamond User ID: 43605963 United States 07/17/2013 10:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm taking care of my dad in one of the biggest cities in California. The people here are really sheeplelized. I'm from a rural area that is not government dependent. Here, it is full of many different cultures that never melted. They all do their own thing and don't talk about "the melting pot "not even warm. No one here would care about tracking. They are all on their I phones ....constantly and being tracked. They post up what they are doing every second. Privacy is a foreign word around here, the noose is tightening . 1984 in spades. |

Minnesota's only holding onto them for 48 hours doesn't seem too bad if it was true, but you can never trust them to honor their word despite the policy. Besides, you know the NSA is tapping into all of these. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 43549243 United States 07/17/2013 10:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I found it strange that Tennessee license plates have this DNA strand that goes down the middle of it. You can only see it if light hits it at a certain way. I looked it up and they say it's to identify an authentic tag. I just thought it was strange that it was a double helix strand. Couldn't they use something else besides something that looks like DNA? |
