Socialized healthcare can be done very well with much less waste and better services than our current system. The problem is that it is entirely impossible to pull off in the US because our economy and political system are not compatible with such a thing.

Yes Obamacare is shit I agree, it's just weird how much everyone rags on the single payer system on this site when if implemented right it is amazing!

I think that America in the middle of 2014 is going to finally come to their very senses when they realize what the cost of this mess is going to be. My girlfriend who is American had to pay $3000.00 when she broke her wrist in the States. When I did a similar thing here it was free as our system is one based on "Slavery"

I think there is this belief that the U.S. with 300 million + people could easily pull of a scheme like Sweden or the United Kingdom. Well not really. Not at all. There are so many reasons but let me start with the major problems.

People ask do you pay taxes? Well you are paying for benefits. No. You are paying into the biggest pyramid scheme in the history of the world. Since forever there has never been such a huge scam. The U.S. government does not work with a lock box like you may want to believe. It could literally all fall apart tomorrow and we would have nothing. It is a sad thing. Medicare and social security are good ideas at their heart but they have been misused and it could go very wrong very quickly. One of the reasons why Obama's plan had a lot of criticism is because it takes away from Medicare. This is a program that people pay into all their life. Now the government is messing with it. They act like the very people that pay into it are nothing but a burden. It could be a big problem.

If you have a responsible population that understands it is not free and you do pay into and you are helping your fellow citizen as well as yourself then it is all good. Guess what. Most of the U.S. population wouldn't comprehend that thinking and they see government programs as freebies. Stupid white people and non-whites will abuse the system. They will think they never have to work. The concept of socialized health care is not something they understand. They want to take take take. This is the dominant thinking in South American countries. Make it socialized so we can take from the rich and give to the poor. The poor never learn and instead equalizing things it makes the entire system fall apart. Look at the society and health care in any South America country. They are piss poor and they cannot advance and evolve.

These are northern European concepts of community and government and non-whites do not get it. They think in different terms and different ways and they are not going to change. To them it is all about taking and giving back is not a concept they are going to understand.

I can tell you the future as we become more of a non-white country. We will institute these types of programs and dumb white people and non-whites will support them when the reality is these programs will give money to the rich and screw over the poor. When it comes down to it that was the intention. The health insurance companies will get millions and the average person will have trouble making ends meet. Then jobs will be scarce and benefits from companies non-existent. Nothing is free. Now the rich have found a way to screw you over and the gap between the wealthy and poor grows. People in mansions and the poor brown people in houses made of sheet metal and cardboard. It is sick. Some slick jerk will constantly fool the brown masses. Why do you think liberals flooded the country with such people from great socialist countries in South America.

Only advanced and evolved people can understand how socialized health care works. Places like Sweden and the U.K. will lose their benefits the more non-white their countries become. The U.K. is already talking about making people pay out of pocket for some of their healthcare. They will lose all of it if their non-white population grows beyond 15% to 20%. It is about control and taking those government funds. They will not reduce taxes but they will reduce services.

It is better for some people to simply use cash and the basic idea of cash for services. The government will abuse the system because humans run the government.

Yep. A system with revolving door for leadership and pluralism cannot do a single payer system effectively, since the politicians cannot be held accountable (only 'voted out' and replaced with more of the same). The best way to do it would be with a monarchy or fascism. Those systems work too well, though, so the current order viciously propagandizes against them.

You need to realize that Americans have been completely brainwashed to believe that we have a free market and that everywhere else on the planet is a third world hell hole. They will say with a straight face that the average American has it better than the average Norwegian because Norway is "socialist."

There has not been any real free markets in health care for quite some time. A simple fix would be to mandate HSA's, health savings accounts. Obamacare expressely outlaws these, because it would ahve saved healthcare and put the government out of the loop.

HSA's plus enforced cost transparency would have made the patient the consumer once again. At that point hospital and doctors would have to compete on cost and competence like a vet. has to do. Compare veterinary services with your standard hospital costs for the same procedures. You'll see about a factor of 10 or more difference.

That my friends is what you are missing due to a lack of capitalism.

Who knows what amazing prosperity and low cost of living there could be if all that were returned to the people for them to spend on whatever they need, want and choose for themselves.
