Go ahead and explain why there are hardly ever any night time persistent trails, when science tells us there should be more.

If you are talking about relative probabilities of persistent contrails.

We know the following:

1) From Air traffic control publications the workload for their controllers is the least during the night. This implies there are fewer flights at night in general and thus there would be less opportunities for contrail formation.

2) We know supersaturation in relation to ice is around 15% world wide at cruising altitudes (according to IPCC) at any one time. So on the average, if a craft is flying above approximately 30,000 feet there is about a 15% chance it could leave a persistent contrail. This of course varies dramatically due to the atmospheric effects of jet streams, weather fronts, etc.

3) Without shortwave solar radiation at night, I am not sure of the effect it would have on the overall frequency of persistent contrail formation. The high altitude temperatures may not be affected much at all. The surface temperatures could change dramatically but the upper troposphere may not change much at all.

4) My guess is the chance of persistent contrails at night is very similar to the chances during the day. What you think, if it is happening, is most likely just simply fewer flights.

Ok, but that doesn't really explain why they aren't there at night. If the atmosphere is hardly affected.

Planes don't stop just because it gets dark, the rates for flying at night are cheaper and there may actually be more planes at night, despite the idiotic idea of there being less, but the persistent trails do stop. Look up and see for yourself.

One can only conclude that a SRM project is ongoing and has been for some time now.

The science that says that for persistent trails to be made, there are conditions that must be met.


SRM stops at night, that's obvious to anyone that goes out and sees the stars. If they didn't stop at night, we would never see the stars, due to them being faint compared to the sun.


The lack of persistent trails at night proves an ongoing SRM project.
