How is C/2010 X1 any more significant than any other comet, for instance, C/2007 W1 that passed Earth at about 0.21005, or 19,525,000 miles, in June of 2008?

If its TRULY a "comet" in the ordinary sense, then its not any more significant. But outside of NASA, and large observatories (which have largely been CLOSED to the public now for quite some time), no one knows for sure how big this thing is, or what constitutes it. In three months, any doubt will be dispelled.

The only people with doubts about it being anything but a comet are the fruitcakes that have tied their "Nibiru" fantasies to just another comet.

When C/2010 X1 passes uneventfully, what's next? Another comet? More lens artifacts in images of the Sun? More cosmic ray hits in SOHO images?

Four times larger than Venus, but 28 times the mass - according to the "Zetas". Ironically, it could be a "water world" according to Clif's "Expando" planet theory. When a molten body cools enough to form a solid mantle, WATER is indeed one of the substances that can be created and start to accumulate on the surface. We appear to see that dynamic in action on Europa and perhaps Titan as well. We know Mars had water in its past. If the Earth has a plasma core, then in reality Earth TOO is a kind of BROWN DWARF - but much smaller and with a much smaller heat signature.

It's amazing how you just assume to KNOW everything!

Sigh. Please define PRECISELY what you would accept is a "good look," in your oh-so-unique lexicon.

The excuse would be, with the curtailment of the space program, and the financial troubles of the universities, scope-time is simply "unavailable" to anyone but specific professionals and hand-picked grad students.

The "dirty little snowball" is currently 1.8 AU from the Earth between the orbits of Jupiter and Mars. If, and that's a big if, it was of a supposedly "planet X" size (Nancy's claim of it's size) it would be occulting stars and quite easy to see with a telescope of moderate magnification.
