The "Traditional teachings of the Faith" I was taught was a lot of exhausted Roman Empire memes, materialistic metaphors and egotistical triumphalism pasted on top of a total misinterpretation of what Jesus actually taught. The humility and poverty of the early Christians is totally unrecognizable under the magical thinking and rituals of paganism grafted on top of Christianity by the Romans.

That entire period was one of crushing slavery institutionalized as the feudal system with Rome's blessing. During this period, the Church was very corrupt and many of its leaders were wealthy and openly corrupt sexually and materially. Scientists, thinkers and natural healers were tried and killed by the tens and hundreds of thousands, because they threatened the Church's dogmatic grip on knowledge. The Church even executed the man who tried to translate the bible into common language so that ordinary people could read it.

The modern day Islamic abuses can't hold a candle to what the Catholic abuses were during that Church's ascendency. The Catholic Church presided over 1500 years of feudal slavery, intellectual persecutions via inquisitions and plagues known as the "Dark Ages".

The Pope calling for a centralized concentration of power in a world authority should send shivers up anyone's spine. The Catholic Church knows how to exploit that kind of power and would certainly benefit from that situation.

Organized religion becomes very evil when it starts grabbing for political power, its leaders appoint themselves as infallible and speaking with God's voice, and they assume the right to prosecute heretics and dissenters.

Having sat through many masses (we had to attend one every day), I can say that I've heard many more hours upon hours of triumphalist rants about "power", "glory", "kingdom" than I heard about Jesus's true teachings. Good grief, were you a nun? lol....by your description it sounds as if you've never been to Mass...or paid attention to what was going on, if you ever did attend.

Ever since I went to So. America and saw for myself the horrific and squalid living conditions in countries with strong Roman Catholic/the Pope oversight, I question their message. While they preach poverty (along with chastity and obedience)the cathedrals were massively ornate. Every time I see the Pope on display, dripping with gold and the finest cloth and served by a multitude of "servants", it seems to me that Catholicism is the epitome of hypocrisy.
Years later, I had the opportunity to have dinner with a Priest in his private residence. The "home" was beautifully, though sparsely decorated and he had his own private cook. It was a delicious dinner, but I left wondering how this man connected in any way with his parishioners.
There are 3 seats of power in this world - London (finance), Washington DC (military) and Rome (religion). These three cities are independent "city-states" and operate independently of their surrounding cities, states or nations and ARE the real powers in this earthly dimension.
