...

The 'poor' and downtrodden spend plenty of money, most of it not theirs and most of it rather poorly.
Were it not for them, ther would be no drugs trade, there would be no pawn shops, rent to own or paycheque loans shoppes. Nobody would pay for expensive ugly sport shoes, nonfunctional clothes and bling.
With so much time on their hands they should be able to clean up their surroundings and keep an eye out for thieves, and murderers yet somehow all that mess goes on concentrated around them. In all honesty most of them are hypnoptized into hyperconsuming by the media or imbeciles that cannot fathom how life works or that a future exists.
Dont try to flummox me with pathos and ethos, I've been there, seen it up close and personal, and come from it, and most now, especially yhe young uns are responsible for their lot in one way or another.
 Quoting: Tod Shwarze 1394135

So you're saying that you rode the gravy train through college, got a decent paying job and now consider yourself a cut above the poor folk. Those nasty ne'er-do-well's that will never hold a capitalist club card.

Its STILL a social caste system, even into the new millenium. Ultimately its that way because of the superimposed selfishness social game. The haves and the have-nots.

You ugly sob's think these poor overweight people aren't feeling marked by accepting the assitance? Eating that junk food and using alcohol is likely one of the few happy moments they've got over the course of a weeks time.

Stop it right now! Stop thinking that giving poor people vouchers (essentially the outcast people) that need the help is the root cause of why the economy is where its at!

If you continue to do so, I invite the universe to smack you on the ass in some really hurtful way.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1488225

Some inportant letters for you'
"f" and "U" C if thats K with you

Nobody gives me nothing un earned and nobody fusses to make sure I'm happy, and I for one am just wanting to return the favour and even the score.
Buncha pathetic entitlments sluts and butts looking to find someone guilty and sentance them to 'donation' to their own pockets.
Not that a single one of you layabout yoni can live up to your own standards and stand like a man. You have to first earn before you can be charitable, but you lot want to be 'charitable' with someone elses life and earnings, whie you pass your imperial loser judgment and punishment with you at the front of the line, naturally.
Theres a bullet or noose out there somewhere for each and every one of you entitlement whores, because that's the proper payment for a thief and looter. I for one cant wait when youre 'benevolent' govt cuts you all off and your neighbours who youve preyed upon finally administer their proper justice upon you louts and turn you into proper strange fruits.
 Quoting: Tod Shwarze 1394135

So now you're talking bullets and nooses.

These people on the dole are not the advantageous users in the system, they're the victims.

You go on about entitled whores and the ethics of being charitable like you're standing in rightful judgement when God knows better!

It is your entitled lifestyle you don't want to lose, and instead of blaming the top 2% that raped the world economy, you're doing exactly like they thought you might.. you're kicking around the poor, blaming them for your plight.

Rise up and be better than that!

The food stamp program helps out farmers, markets, grocery stores.

Sure there are people who abuse it, but they are few and far between. Most people use the stamps to get their family the basic staples, rice, beans, veggies and fruits.

Without food stamps many markets and food distributors would lose significant business.

Its classic!

People will natually tend to blame the unkept, down on their luck person before it even crosses their minds to think the well groomed fella's in those sharp suits had anything to do with it.

There is nothing entitled about the the people living below the poverty level, living in dumps while relying on food stamps to make it through the month. How dare they even think about drowning their sorrows with addiction, they're living high on the hog! They're the entitled whores of the system laughing all the way to the end of their twinkie boxes and cases of beer. They're live'n the life!

Re: People use FOOD STAMP CARDS for food & their cash for CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL & LOTTERY
I get so sick of these threads. I ran a trucking business four years until fuel prices skyrocketed and put me under. I had 7 people working with me I had to lay off, who all received unemployment, which since I was self employed I was ineligible for.

Now my family is on food stamps, we happen to live in the unfortunate area of the highest unemployment rate of our state, and we have to deal with this type of garbage everyday.

I had to sell my trucks to pay off the 12,000 in taxes on the truck permits and plates plus trailers, netting 8,000 on my last year due to the price of diesel. I paid more in taxes then I made all year long.

I live in a non welfare state. I don't get gas money to put in applications. What am I supposed to do? There is no assistance in my area. Yet my children have to eat. I'd much rather be helping others by providing employment to them but the ptb took my extra and taxed me to oblivion. I'm out of business. I'm forced to seek help from locals, I've been homeless.

Somehow a lot of people complain about helping another person, which in return could be helping them. As long as they work for the man they don't see the big picture. Believe me, help me get back on my feet and I'll go right back to employing more people.

As long as guys like me are regulated to death through taxes and fees, along with the price of fuel it's inevitable that you end up in the same boat because we can only support you so long before we must lay you off because we can't pay you any longer.

Of course I'm speaking about small business only because the big wigs are in league with ptb.

Re: People use FOOD STAMP CARDS for food & their cash for CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL & LOTTERY
I used to work at a gas station when I just moved back to the east coast from California. I lived in a lower/middle class neighborhood. Nearly EVERY customer who came in to buy junk food (honey buns, doritos, donuts, etc) would drop a &20 or a $50 and in one case I remember a &100 dollar bill, and purchase Lottery tickets, cigarettes & cases of beer.

I began wondering...why the hell are these people using my tax money to buy unhealthy junk food and using their cash to buy what I would consider privileges?

People would come in and complain about the price of gas and health insurance. If you didn't spend your money on cigarettes, lottery, scratch tickets and alcohol you'd HAVE money for gas and health insurance.

I worked out the numbers.

The average cost of a pack of cigarettes across america right now is $5.65

if you smoke a pack a day that's $150.00 a month you spend on something that can kill you. The case of bud light at the store I worked at was about $14.00 for a 12 pack. If you buy even two a week thats around another $100.00 a month. Lottery and megabucks is unpredictable, but if your gambling with your cash you have a serious problem anyway.

anyway my point, is that it's not that prices are high or that the rich are greedy, it's that the poor are more often than not STUPID with their money. With $300-$400 a months you'd save by not drinking, smoking & gambling you would have plenty of money for a gym membership, the best health insurance money can buy and still have some left over to put towards other bills.

I'm sick of this. I see people doing this shit everyday and pisses me off!

It's not a matter of the rich keeping poor people down, it's the poor needing to sacrifice their addictions & cravings of luxury consumption. You can't afford it don't buy it.

Not to mention if you didn't drink and smoke so dam much you wouldn't have to complain about the cost of health care because you'd be a whole lot healthier. Not to mention if you're going to buy food with my taxes can you at least buy healthy food? Salads, fruits, vegetables etc? Instead of potato chips and donuts?

My two cents.

Bullshit article. Obviously written to demonize the food stamp program.

You can't use the food stamp card to buy cigarettes, alcohol, and lotto tickets.

Growing up poor in NYC....My father would not allow our family to go on ANY public assistance even tho we easily qualify.....He said accepting gubmint help changes the way you think and stifles your drive to succeed.....instead he took 2 jobs and my mother also worked....I started a job at age 12....I ate one meal a day for awhile and many of our meals was made from butcher shop scraps.....lots of rough times but we survived....

fast forward 40 yrs.....

From extreme poverty, our family did remarkably well.....I been to the old neighborhood and realized my father was right.....many of my friends that lived in projects and got welfare haven't changed their habits.....They were still hanging out in the same place, living in the projects receiving welfare and food stamps.....they just got older....the number of them I saw tells me this is not an anomaly.....

I like walking by that Lower East Side tenement I grew up.....its now a renovated condo building and I own it....

fuck you shill, the majority of people use their cash benefits in a responsible manner.
just because the filthy few abuse the program it should not disparage the character of those using it appropriately.
they only let you have it for 5 years now anyway
so fuck off

I was stating that it should be regulated better. I'm not opposed to food stamps I'm opposed to people being able to take advantage of the system. and I never said they used their cash benefits on it!! I clearly stated they come in with cash period. Cash money.

Once again, i am not stating I do not advocate food stamps. The article was meant more as an attack on welfare because they should seriously be monitoring it more closely. It's not fair to even you that this goes on if you receive assistance.

you are also a jackass. most people who act " high and mighty" on message boards often have a lot of their own flaws. It makes it easier to forget how much of an ass YOU are when you are bashing someone else. You're awesome Tod!

Re: People use FOOD STAMP CARDS for food & their cash for CIGARETTES, ALCOHOL & LOTTERY
that is nothing op.Here in Indiana the illegals have it even better.See they do not need to show ID here(only applies to illegals).

This is there scam. There are groups of 20 or so illegals and they take a day to go around to various counties applying for food stamps(and get them). Each now has 5-10 cards. They go out and spend all there food stamp money on food. They then take all this food to THERE grocery store. As in one they opened in little Mexico(Indianapolis). They charge normal retail unless you are Mexican(1/2 off). They pocket the cash, and the next month repeat.

They get to own a VERY profitable grocery store with nearly 100 over head.At a minimum they are making 50% profit off of tax payer funded food stamps.

Yes I have called/emailed the state attorney generals office. No they do not care as there is nothing they can do unless the law is changed to require illegals to have id for food stamps(better yet how about we do not give illegals food stamps!!).
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1483118

And meanwhile, those who truly DO need food stamps, in order to eat, are getting less and less.

These illegal aliens are pure scum. They need to get the fuck OUT of this country... NOW.

Stupid mother fuckers like you need to be shot.

You are complaining about the measly food stamp program when it's the GOVERNMENT's job to waste money. Waste it on weapons that are never used, ships that never sail and planes that never fly.

Waste it on foreign aid for country's that don't do shit for us in return. Waste it on corporate bailout's so the CEO's can lay off more employees and give themselves bonuses while flying in private jets.

Yet you are complaining about people abusing their food stamps.

Kindly kill yourself now please, you dumb ass, football watching, limbaugh listening to, beer drinking fox news junky. Just do the world a favor and walk into moving interstate traffic.

Ok first of all let me state you have an awful vocabulary and attacking somebody with foul language on a forum is a far clearer example of stupidity then anything I wrote.

Secondly, I fucking HATE rush limbaugh, NEVER watch FOX NEWS, I do not drink beer or smoke cigarettes, and I have quite an education.

Thirdly, I agree with you about ALL the other issues you mentioned. But I think you should re-read my initial post and read the disclaimer. Because I think my post was taken out of context.

P.S.
Telling people to go kill themselves is rude. But it is freedom of speech. Which is what I practiced in my first post.

From what I've read, it has been an ongoing paradox for the last 10 years that its more worthwhile to go on assistance programs rather than trying to seek gainful employment. Most of these highschool/GED educated people would end up having to work 3 jobs at a loss of income due to expenses.

This is absolutely true. I had to do it for many years so I know what you mean.

Nothing wrong with general assistance just a bit of advice for those who receive it. There are ways you can better help yourself and the country by not spending the money you do have on frivolous things. It would also help if they ate healthier with it. For them and the system because there would be less people needing medical care they cant afford.

What a bunch of fucking clueless, bleeding-heart pansy, titty-suckling, whiny reprobates in this thread!

Get rid of all forms of assistance NOW! Let these scum die!

Down on your luck? Get off your ass and make something happen! I'VE BEEN THERE! It was MY FAULT!

If this country wasn't full of dumbfucks like you, and like OP has described -- people who vote for and re-elect whoever will give them the most bennies, then the people at the top, 'the Illuminati', wouldn't get away with 95% of what they do!

If you didn't spend your money on cigarettes, lottery, scratch tickets and alcohol you'd HAVE money for gas and health insurance. I'm not saying that it's poor peoples fault why they're poor. I've been poor for a very long time. I grew up homeless on the streets with a drug addicted mother my whole childhood. I'm saying that making a conscious effort to not spend your money frivilously on things that corporate america use to kill you will probably help you provide yourself with more important things you need.

anyway my point, is that it's not just that prices are too high or that the rich are greedy, it's that the I see a lot of the poor, more often than not doing STUPID things with their money. With $300-$400 a months you'd save by not drinking, smoking & gambling you would have plenty of money for a gym membership, a decent health insurance and still have some left over to put towards other bills.

I'm sick of this. I see people doing this shit everyday and pisses me off! They are abusing the system, and though there are tons of more important things going on in the world then this issue it is still something people should address. Welfare assistance should be better monitored.

It would also help if the poor could sacrifice their addictions & cravings of luxury consumption. You can't afford it don't buy it.

Not to mention if you didn't drink and smoke you wouldn't have to complain about the cost of health care because you'd be a whole lot healthier. It would better for you nutritionally and help things out.

DISCLAIMER:

This is NOT an attack on ALL people who use food stamps, just quite a few who do that take advantage of the system. It is neither fair for the tax payer or the impoverished needy who use the system that this stuff goes on. This is more of an attack on welfare because this should seriously be monitored much more closely. Hopefully the good people out there receiving assistance who read this now will stop attacking me. I advocate helping the poor, just sick an tired of helping those who abuse it. There is Nothing wrong with general assistance just a bit of advice for those who receive it. When I was young and worked in a grocery store I saw this too. The people with food stamps bought the most beer and cigarettes.

I was always in a state of disbelief.
Study history, or STFU! Let me guess? You'll speak your empty mind?
