Possibly setting up for the change over to take effect after the budget is passed and government reopens?

I don't know the answer for sure but this can be done without congressional approval right?

I'm in favor as long as it does not become a price fixxing scheme for perishables. Generally fresh fruits, vegetables and meats are too expensive for the poor to fill their bellies on plus it requires extra steps that also add expense like cooking and refrigeration. That's why they use their SNAP benefits on ramen, taquitos and soda. If they were able to provide enough to actually allow a family to really eat on this box without raises prices for the rest of us that's great.

Yeah, yeah we all know the story of the lady picking up filet mignon on her EBT card. That's someone gaming the system. I'm talking about America's true poor who have to decide between a $5 little ceaser that will feed them all right now or 2 lbs of broccoli that they have to prepare and refrigerate and it still will not "satisfy" like the pizza.

If tax dollars are providing it then we should always be trying to get the most bang for the buck. A program that helps farmers, possibly reduces medical costs dowm the road and mayne even incentivizes people to get off of food stamps so they can have some food freedom is a good thing.

I believe we have a moral obligation to feed the poor and help the sick. However what that looks like is nothing close to our current system where the inmates are running the asylum.

Better a subsidy to lettuce and tomato farmers than soybean farmers.

Still, I don't see this ending well. People with bad diets all their lives will not suddenly learn to cook or eat properly.

Do they teach meal planning or nutrition in schools? I doubt it. Even if instructions were included in the box they'd probably tossed unread. Governments need to stop dysgenic programs that keep the dumbest of the population breeding the most offspring.

Dramatic irony - wealthy people voluntarily pay big bucks to have food delivered to them in boxes because they get healthy and fresh food on a regular basis and they don't have to shop. Poor people complain about boxes delivered to them as unhealthy and not allowing choice. Go figure.

No one will admit ^that^, though as they would then be tacitly admitting that the 'class' of people receiving the 'harvest box' are a useless, ignorant, drain upon society's resources.

If and when this goes into effect look for food prices to drop as the market has to compensate and actually has to become compete with again.

I remember all the gullible libtards at a health food store I used to shop at GUSHING over Michelle/Michael Obama's healthy nutrition hoo-ha for school students.

they already have the 501c3 nonprofit organizations exempt from some federal income taxes.

and we the people, instead of paying federal tax, can go back to charitably donating directly to the organization feeding the poor...
