Sickscent actually posted a article on what you are talking about not long ago--The CME can actually change it`s direction in space..I will dig for the article and see if I can find it..something really strange about this one..coming in waves..drastic ups and downs in density

back in March of this year we saw a backside CME be pulled in earths direction. We talked about that here and SickScent also did a thread on this event

yup, this is possible
for me, the duration and extremes of the magnetosphere readings will be the deciding factor as to what this was from
if the small CME that was in the western edge yesterday, then the magnetosphere showing this would only last for a very short time
If its from the large CME on the eastern edge yesterday, then this event will be more extreme and last a lot longer

Remember:

Most people are unaware that we have no understanding of how lightning is created in clouds. The simplest answer is that lightning is not generated there at all. Clouds merely form a convenient path to Earth for electricity originating in space. Without clouds it is possible to have a "bolt from the blue". That is happening on Venus (although the sky certainly isn't blue). Weather systems are driven primarily by external electrical influences.

However, nobody is trained to consider electrical energy input to weather systems.

yep --- good analysis. You guys have really pull things together with the earthquake predictions

there is still a missing link with the storms that is bothering me ....I believe it is also sun related as a link.
something in the earth (I believe the post glacier rebound effect) is also causing some kind of pull --hence all the storms and volcanoes going off. As if the sun sends out a message and we receive it.

It's going to be some really funky stuff going on in the next 2 weeks.

I sometimes try and grow stuff...this year the ground is very saturated, I dont know about the rest of the country, but in Ohio the crops are going to suck..

I still think something kind of crazy happened..even if we got a glancing blow from the CME last night it shouldn`t have got here so quick...That is less than 24 hours and wham it`s here...shoot that would barely give me time to tie on a good DOOM drunk...rather unusual event in my opinion.

what a joke
they always do this when something comes our way that people see and that they did not give notice of!
there is NO coronal hole facing us right now and has not been one all week (takes around at lease 2-3 days for the winds to reach us)
look on SpaceWeather to see they say there is NO earth facing coronal hole, and thats what their site has said for the last week

but IMO no way this is causing what we are seeing today as this possible coronal hole is very small compared to what we usually see cause any earth effects

"We have an important clue," says Lin. When the explosion occurred, sunspot 720 was located at a special place on the sun: 60o west longitude. This means "the sunspot was magnetically connected to Earth."



He explains: The sun's magnetic field spirals out into the solar system like water from a lawn sprinkler. (Why? The sun spins like a lawn sprinkler does.) The magnetic field emerging from solar longitude 60o W bends around and intersects Earth. Protons are guided by magnetic force fields so, on January 20th, there was a superhighway for protons leading all the way from sunspot 720 to our planet.

I missed this the first time I read the article...The "Superhighway"....something to keep in mind...Now WE know anything that comes through that area would be worth watching...can`t believe nobody here has heard of this before or discussed it..Definately new knowledge to me

So anything shot out at 60o west would reach the earth alot faster than a normal CME..

if the winds from one were hitting us today, they would have known it was there 2-3 days ago and announced such then
they did not
