This region has produced the first C-flare in many days and we'll likely see many more. It's already the largest active region on the disk and still growing bigger. Tonight there will be a very low chance. If the Bz goes back into the negative there will be a better chance for aurora. The solar winds are still high as we are still going though the coronal hole. Hugh M Eye User ID: 11125060 United States 02/19/2012 09:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NASA to launch research rocket directly into aurora from Poker Flat, AK. Or maybe they already did; last night we spotted strong aurora right over Poker Flat. An all-sky camera in Fort Yukon will show when aurora conditions are right. Narrow-field cameras in Fort Yukon and Venetie-manned by the UAF Geophysical Institute's Hans Nielsen and graduate student Jason Ahrns, and Venetie village resident Lance Whitwell-will help scientists better define the aurora the rocket will fly through. After two rocket motors power the payload out of Earth's atmosphere, it will separate into two parts. One will then extend four wire antennas, each about 18 feet long, to measure the strong electric fields generated by the aurora. Twelve other antennas and sensors, each 1 to 3 feet long, will extend from the other part of the payload to measure electrons and ions and how they interact with the Earth's magnetic field. In the 10 minutes it takes for the payload to arc 210 miles above Fort Yukon, the sensors will take thousands of measurements and transmit them back to Poker Flat. [link to www.space-travel.com] |

Very exciting times we live in,its been a long time since i've felt i'm right where I'm meant to be.I have felt that way as of late.Maybe we're all starseeds. LOL “One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan |

Currently at C3.5 I'm assuming this is coming from the spot facing directly at the SDO Images. I guess now we look for a CME. Actually C4.0 now. |

Nice catch, Starwind No, it didn't come from the large new region, but from AR1421 near the eastern limb. It looks like a fairly large event on the H-alpha images.
