So a sun-tard and a Nibiru-tard walk into a bar....

i just got back from 5 days at Hersey park....
hot as hell but no crazy things going on there.
well just 200+ feet high roller coasters dropping 87 degrees at 85 mph. and others shooting off at 72mph in 2 seconds to launch you 200ft up vertical and then yup straight back down into some twists and loops....just reliving my dreams of space travel.
without checking in or knowing about the x flare...the only thing i did notice was major satellite disruptions in their CTV.....so maybe just maybe we all will be ok. maybe we do got info overload from time to time.

lets just see how saturday turns out.

Hello, Nerdrage, I think when it arrives, it's gonna hit the ACE like a ton of bricks. I expect the density and velocity to go vertical. I just hope they keep the ACE data coming in. Sometimes they have the satellite take a defensive posture or put in "safe mode".

SOHO is finally updating. Woo-hoo! You can barely make out that comet...it's about a halfinch to the right of the occulting disk on the C3. It doesn't appear to be heading directly into the Sun as someone suggested.

NASA scientists on December 16, 2008 announced that "THEMIS spacecraft have discovered a breach in Earth's magnetic field ten times larger than anything previously thought to exist." NASA's THEMIS mission comprises 5 probes launched in February 2007 to measure the Earth's magnetic field. According to Wenhui Li, a University of New Hampshire space physicist analyzing the NASA THEMIS mission: "The opening was huge—four times wider than Earth itself."Jimmy Raeder, another University of New Hampshire scientist analyzing the THEMIS project data said: "We've seen things like this before but never on such a large scale. The entire day-side of the magnetosphere was open to the solar wind." The breach is allowing up to 20 times the normal amount of solar particles to enter the Earth's atmosphere according to the NASA announcement.

The breach in the magnetosphere was not causing any great concern for the moment since solar activity is at a minimum. In fact, the last time the sun was so inactive was in 1913. The lack of solar activity has even caused some scientists to speculate that we are about to enter a mini-Ice Age. Most NASA scientists however agree that by 2012, when the sun moves into its solar maximum, the current situation will change dramatically. In 2006 a team of solar scientists led by Mausumi Dikpati of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) predicted that the "next sunspot cycle [#24] will be 30% to 50% stronger than the previous one."

The sun's heightened sunspot activity will lead to coronal mass ejections (CME) filled with solar particles or plasma that will dramatically spread out through the solar wind. Increased quantities of plasma will be carried to the Earth in giant solar waves passing through the breach in the magnetosphere. This is how one NASA scientist explained the situation: "We're entering Solar Cycle 24. For reasons not fully understood, CMEs in even-numbered solar cycles (like 24) tend to hit Earth with a leading edge that is magnetized north. Such a CME should open a breach and load the magnetosphere with plasma just before the storm gets underway. It's the perfect sequence for a really big event."

The big event alluded to by NASA THEMIS scientists is major disruption to satellites, telecommunications systems and the electrical power grid. What the scientists didn't discuss is the impact on the human bioelectrical system. By 2012, individuals will need to learn to be "solar surf riders" to survive the dramatic waves of plasma pouring in through the Earth's magnetosphere at astounding rates.

In his ground breaking book, The Body Electric, Robert Becker showed that the human body is a complex bio-electrical system. The consequences of Becker's work were enormous in terms of the development of the science of bio-electricity and its impact on the health industry through innovations such as electrotherapy.

Sadly, the bio-electrical nature of the human body is not seriously studied by the medical establishment. Instead, major developments occur in military commissioned studies where the most innovative findings are routinely classified. Nick Begich, in Controlling the Human Mind, showed how the defense industry has conducted classified research on the bio-electrical system for defense related applications. For example, the military commissioned a study by the University of Utah in 1985 that produced a Radio Frequency Dosimetry Handbook which identified the electrical resonant frequencies of all the body's organs and tissues. This information can be used to trigger organ collapse or healing depending on the various technologies developed, and their applications.

So if the human body is fundamentally bio-electrical what does that entail for the period around 2012 when solar flare activity peaks and solar particles pour through the giant breach in the magnetosphere? Rather than solely electrical systems being affected, so too will be the human body. According to David Sibeck, a THEMIS project scientist, the breach will last for the entire span of the next solar cycle. He warned: "It should be that we're in for a tough time in the next 11 years."

The new Obama administration has taken a much more proactive approach to science and the environment. In a press conference announcing his choice of Stephen Chu as Energy Secretary, President Obama said:

My administration will value science. We will make decisions based on the facts, and we understand that facts demand bold action.
For the next 11 years, as the magnetosphere breach continues to allow up to 20 times the normal amount of plasma to bombard the Earth and the human bioelectrical system and this activity peaks around 2012, these facts require "bold action". What "bold action" can the Obama administration take to help prepare American citizens and humanity more generally for what's about to occur as we approach and pass beyond 2012 over the next 11 years? What can private individuals do to prepare for the massive social and psychological effects of the human bioelectrical system as it responds to a surge in solar plasma energy entering the earth's environment in unprecedented rates?

Atlantic Ocean observatory to solve mysterious irregularity of Earth''s magnetic field
November 30th, 2008 -

Washington, Nov 30 (ANI): A newly developed observatory on a remote island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean will provide researchers with new knowledge about the mysterious irregularity of the Earth''s magnetic field known as the South Atlantic Anomaly. The observatory is a partnership between the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), and DTU Space, the Danish National Space Institute. The new geomagnetic observatory is located on the island of Tristan da Cunha and was inaugurated on November 14 by the island''s roughly 300 inhabitants and a few of the researchers on the project. Tristan da Cunha is the remotest inhabited island in the world and is also located right in the middle of the South Atlantic Anomaly, which is the area where the Earth''s magnetic field is weakest.

This makes it incredibly interesting for the Danish researchers, who are working to understand the Earth''s magnetic field and the way in which it affects satellites, for example. "Until now, Denmark has mostly been involved in projects that measure the magnetic field from space, with the Orsted satellite and the future Swarm satellite mission, as well as the measuring stations in Greenland," said Professor Nils Olsen of DTU Space. "With the observatory on Tristan da Cunha, we will have a measuring station in the Tropics right in the middle of the South Atlantic Anomaly, where the strength of the magnetic field is only half as high as in Denmark," he added.

At present, the strength of the Earth''s magnetic field is decreasing by 5 percent every hundred years and researchers do not know why or what the consequences will be. In the South Atlantic Anomaly, the strength of the magnetic field is decreasing ten times as fast and the measuring station will therefore also give the researchers the opportunity to learn more about the consequences of the global weakening of the magnetic field.

The magnetic field protects the Earth from radiation from space and the area around the South Atlantic Anomaly is therefore very poorly protected. In the Anomaly, the radiation belts that surround the Earth, the van Allen belts, are very close to the surface of the Earth. This is, among other things, significant to satellites, which suffer by far the majority of faults when they fly through this area. "Opening the observatory is a milestone in our research," said senior researcher Jurgen Matzka from DMI, who is heading the project. (ANI)

total relax....then off to the adrenaline rush of the coasters!! oh we rode them over and over and over.
son's 8 and he is tall...54" so he can ride them all.
and heck who does not love chocolate!!!! we did learn a lot about chocolate this week!
did anyone know that cocoa is a fruit!! and for many years the cocoa seeds called beans were used like money....the bean counters!!!!counted cocoa beans.
any chocolate 80% or so is very good for you. this would be very dark chocolate.
