believe it or not...i am a theatre based video-graphics artist. for many year i was a lighting designer before i moved in to video graphics.
but i am the only son of a bell labs planing engineer. he worked on creating LASERS...high speed switches...and international protocols for the broadband system we call the internet.
growing up my to best 2 friends fathers were hard core scientists. one worked for NASA in the 60's thru the 80's. my friend also ended up at NASA.
check this out my other friend's father was one of the creators of Fermi Labs in Il.
the 3 of us would go there sometime on the weekends, we could walk around and talk with all the scientists.
i would also get to play on bell labs main frame when my father would take in there.

how i ended up as an artist who knows. but my NASA friend's sister did as well. she is a video graphics artist but more corporate the i.

Also, today is the anniversary of a small space weather outage in Canada. On August 16, 1989 the Toronto stock exchange was disabled by a geomagnetic storm. This followed on the massive outage in March 1989 that interrupted electrical distribution throughout Quebec. This geomagnetic storm was caused by a coronal mass ejection from a very large X20 solar flare seen on August 16, 1989, which was even stronger than the X15 flare on March 6, 1989 that heralded the earlier storm.
Microchips failed in August 1989 rather than the electrical grid. It affected many fewer people than the 6 million who were left without electricity in March. But it shows the many ways that space weather affects our society. What about the current solar cycle, #24? The Sun appears to have reached peak activity for Solar Cycle 24 in its northern hemisphere. The south continues to produce more and more sunspots. During the decline of a solar cycle the sunspots tend to last longer and the coronal mass ejections can cause large geomagnetic storms. Even though large flares are the heralds of violent space weather, it is the geomagnetic storms that interfere with power grids.
Solar Cycle 24 continues to follow the path of a below average cycle. It is also the best-studied solar cycle, with SDO, SoHO, both STEREO spacecraft, Hinode and numerous ground-based telescopes watching this cycle grow. We study the Sun to know when space weather happens and to learn how to predict it. The images from AIA and HMI are just the beginning of the science of SDO!

I am not sure what S0 is up to with these, but he said in a 2mins the other day he was working on something concerning sprites.

i seemed to have gone full circle thru the whole thought process that start 2 nights ago looking at a big lightning storm and reading about sprites.

Interesting, moving out further from our solar system, that would suggest other bigger stars send out electrons along field lines beyond their galaxies to connect to us in our solar system.

if you go to the main website they talk about some pixels that were damaged getting the satellite up.
they try to align the image so they are in a dark area but this does not work all the time. that is the area where these dead pix are.

Thats what I'm thinking. The magnetic field lines would be like the stuff in the body that keeps all the organs and structures hanging together.

that is what set me off on this crazy quest this week.
heat lightning from a huge storm that missed us. i was out side looking up to see the shooting starts and all i could see was this lightning. really intense but very far away...never heard any thunder....just did let me see my meteors!

i am NO good at technology, never have, doubt i ever will.so lighting/graphic design...love it, but no idea at all..

im a country boy (stockman/boy from the age of 11 then military service, then stockman/roo shooter and now anthropologist...) but i have ALWAYS been a nerd (angry one at that about the ZOMBIE population of the world), and LOVE the universe/spiritual/physical connections we ALL share...

we are but cosmic dust, made of the same material, share the same emotions of pain, love, hate, lust etc. and are simply a parasitic infestation on this earth, that should learn to live in HARMONY with the earth, and most of all EACH OTHER...
i fear for us all if we cant attain the right spiritual connection wit heach other and this earth,...so i watch, i prepare and most of all...i LOVE.

Hey psy, I agree with 88, thanks for the background intel, very cool, my brother lived in Coco so I know some Nasa geeks myself. 88, I know there is a purpose to our parasitic infestation as you lovingly refer to it. Its not completely cleat yet but there is some real advantage at some point of having experienced and survived separation and duality. Seems like its initiation back into oneness.

that is why i love to create art in video and projection.
you come and look, you feel, and think.
i will always hide the technology well, so need to even care about that!
but if anyone ever asks i will gladly open the curtain and show what the wizard is really doing.
