Quoting: mistersplinter as expected, everything is skyrocketing: epam protons [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] electrons are in extreme fraggled state [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] he protons [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] haven't seen this one this high for a good long while: [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] and: [link to www.ips.gov.au] warming to the oranges in wide areas already today. as asked before....I was watching EVE yesterday when this all was going on, and I did not see an xray event. Plenty of light in the area, but not the fuzz that I have become used to on EVE after an xray event. Hope everybody is well. Thanks everyone for keeping the thread hopping whilst I couldnt check in yesterday. thanks for posting those :) i will add to them how the Low Energy Protons are something to watch as they tell the story of how strong this CME is/will be We can see the low energy protons on ACE here [link to www.swpc.noaa.gov] Im taking a stab at this and saying thei will be a very strong "glancing" blow Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! Anonymous Coward User ID: 5263313 United States 09/01/2012 12:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm not seeing any warnings, looks like they are considering it more of a radio event. Quoting: TS66 solen states the CME created a weakenhancement in proton levels. [link to www.solen.info] It would seem, with what the are giving us, he should be fine. It doesn't look like there has been any issues with GPS, and no warnings in regard to high altitude flights... Thank You 66 and thank you Nin...to both of you. |

Its source was a large filament eruption in the southeast quadrant from about 40 degrees east to the central meridian and from near the equator in the north to ARs 11539 and 11538 in the south. The event was associated with a full halo asymmetric CME. Earth is probably outside the path of the core CME, however, an impact is likely on August 7." same area, in the same earth facing position [link to www.youtube.com] Last Edited by NiNzrez on 09/01/2012 12:50 PM Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! shadasonic User ID: 15732022 United States 09/01/2012 12:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | According to Dr Strong's calculation the speed of the CME yesterday (from the filament) was said to be 2000 km/s or 4,473,872.584 MPH Quoting: TS66 Simply Incredible. Not quite as fast as that rare event a couple months ago off the west limb at 7 million mph, but when you are calculating speeds by the millions of mph ??? Blows my mind. if it is travelling that fast, i got ETA at 21 hrs...! NiNzrez (OP) User ID: 12844841 United States 09/01/2012 12:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | looking at todays movie on SDO in the gold filter, we can see there is some very active magnetic activity going on around sunspot 1560 also looking at the magnetogram i can see some major fast growth within this region today, as well as connectivity between this region and the sunspots in the southeastern region if this continues, we could see a good sized flare very soon, as well as a possible CME coming from this area [link to sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov] wow, also something else i just noticed look at the movie for all of today in the Red filter, and watch the entire top right (northwest) section you can see the wave of plasms that was from the filament ejection in the southeast (bottom left), then a few min later you can see that wave go up over the whole top right like a wave of plasma went over the whole earth facing side of the sun with this event Last Edited by NiNzrez on 09/01/2012 01:09 PM Join Me On The GLP SOLAR WATCH Thread Thread: SOLAR WATCH * Huge X8.2 Flare Sept. 10, 2017! Isis One User ID: 14343270 United States 09/01/2012 01:42 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Looking at several observatories to view this release, I noticed that the PROBA2/SWAP 174 angstrom imager exhibits something that no other source appears to display. Immediately prior to the event, material can be seen scattering about as usually seen in a detector following a CME.. perhaps this is of some use.
