You don't need tens of thousands of dollars to start a business. The fact that people think you do is what keeps so many from never starting one, or from failing at it if they do. They spend all their money on offices and employees instead of on activities that actually create revenue. I own two small businesses that earn me very good money. If I were to start over with just a little money, I would start out with this:

I bought a copy of this for my son in law last year when he got laid off from his job and he started a business within 30 days using the ideas from this book. No, I don't get paid for recommending it, I just think it would be a good thing if more people had the info in this book and were able to get away from being wage slaves. It's worth ten times what they charge for it if you actually read and digest and ACT on what is in it.

Good luck, and don't listen to all the idiots on this site telling you can't start a business. I'll bet none of the ones telling you that have successful businesses.

And that's my second piece of advice...never take advice on starting a business from anyone who hasn't already done it themselves.

It all comes down to compounding profits, bottom line.

this sounds easy but it's very hard work.getting permits will require more than $2ooo.

I turned 2k into a six figure biz. Took me 1.5 years and reinvested all the profits for that long.

Do not get into FOREX until you know what the hell you are doing. It is not for the faint of heart and with novices you can almost rest assured that emotion will win you over and leave you broke.

Go learn about FOREX. Open an account (as long as they do not require funding). A lot of them have practice accounts where you can trade fake money based on real markets.

If I had an extra $2 grand I would go buy physical silver right now. Within 5 years it will be worth at least double that when you compare it to fiat paper.

Personally I would buy either silver eagles or Canadian maple leafs. Yeah you pay a premium but they are good solid recognized brands.

Finally, getting out of the rat race is not easy. Do you have a good relationship with a banker?

Here is a business model and I do not know if $2K is enough.

-Set up a limited liability corporation
-Find a fixer-upper property on the cheap in a good neighborhood
-Fix it up
-Rent it out
-Go back to your bank and use the equity that you created in the first property as a down payment on the next.
-Repeat the process.

The key is finding the first one. Not easy but nothing worth having is. This takes work. Once that property is found be prepared to do a lot of the work yourself. Hopefully you have a wife or girlfriend that will support you and help out.

This will work if you are smart about it. Go slow. The US property bubble is still bursting but there are deals out there. Building a good relationship with a local banker and real estate agent is the key.

Get into this far enough and it will become a well-oiled machine.

If there is big money to be made, its like that for a reason, and thats because, the ratio of winning, and not winning is very large, like 5% win at the forex BUSINESS..

Thats why I said, you need to spend many, many hours learning and watching charts, but if you do the proper things, everything works out ok..

When I first got in, I spent 18-20 hours a day, just watching charts, learning indicators, feeling the flow of the pair ( EURUSD ) im watching.

But, Im a stay at home dad, so I have the time. Plus, my wife understands the income that can be made, and the hole we are in, and a simple 9-5 JOB ( Just Over Broke ) isnt going to cut it. When you reach a age, and nothing is what you want it to be, the days become smaller and smaller as they go by. At this time, I dont have 5-10 years to dilly dally around, so I went right to the heart of the big money.

You dont need to buy expensive books, everything you need is right infront of you. Well, mostly everything. You have to have the balls, the patiance, and the WILL to make it happen.

This is no kids playground. You can lose everything in seconds if you dont know what your doing. Well, in a sense. In the Forex, you WANT to take positive steps each time, but one fuck up, can set you back, right where you started.

Its not easy, to say the least, but, just like anything in life, Continous Reps, and practice work in your favor. You WONT get better at anything, if you dont practice. Wheather its throwing a football, or glueing sticks in a straight line, its all the same. Trail and error, and building on the knowlegde you already obtained from the last attempt.

Its alot of work, but it pays off, and can pay off very fast.

I'm surprised somebody hasn't told you to give it charity and save your soul. I started a business with $2000 two years ago and now bring home 6 figures. What is your ambition, passion?

Be cynical if you want, it's no sweat off my nose. However, your attitude may prevent the OP from reading something that may really help him out. I have bookshelves full of business books, the one I linked to is one of the best for someone just starting out. Some other recommendations I have (that I do not make money on either!)

A book called Becoming a Millionaire Within a Year With no Effort - WAY overblown title for sure but a mindblower on breaking through a lot of misconceptions about what it takes to make money. Available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, probably other places.

Somewhere out on the net is a free report called something like "Double your way to a million". It was given away by people who really are shilling, ignore the links in it that try to sell you money making schemes, but the info in the report is good. It would never work as easily as in the report, but it does demonstrate three important principles:

1. Start small
2. Plough your profits back into your business
3. Break your goals into small and manageable steps and build on success.

Anyway, it's really annoying being accused of trying to hustle sales when I'm not. I have made dozens or maybe hundreds of posts on this site and this is the first time I've ever even mentioned a business topic or posted a link to any kind of a product at all. I am recommending the book because it WORKS.

I don't think it IS possible, I think the poster was just pointing out a principle of growing your business, that is, don't confuse your nest egg with your cash cow. Most people, when they start a small business, live off/spend the revenue instead of plowing it back into the business to make it grow. So their business always stays small.

If you start out with only $2000, as a first goal you may try to double the net value of your business to $4000.

Most people instead make the mistake of trying to earn more income from their business. The first thing to think about should be the value of the business, not how much you can milk from it.

with that much, you could go to Northern Cal and buy a pound of outdoor. Anywhere east of the west coast thats worth a lot more.

a real business for 2k? Good luck. The best you will be able to do is sell nic nacs and I don't think your town probably needs or can support a nic nac dealer.

However, a pound of weed and a cell phone and you can make a decent living. You know, get an apartment and all that.

Otherwise, your "business" is going to maybe get you a bike and a tarp to sleep under. That's just the reality of the economic shole this country is becoming. good luck

The $2 bid can work, but you need to think outside the box,

In Forex, say you start with $500

Thru compounding your profits, and adjusting your lot sizes, you can turn that into about $10,000 in 12 trading days, seriously..

Now, if you have the balls, the patiance, and the mind, you can actually turn that $500 into about $417,000 in 20 trading days, just thru compounding and lot adjustments, and guess what, you can do that in less then 3-4 hours a day, getting 100 pips daily. Pips are the digit movements in currency. Take for instance, today, right now, EURUSD is

1.4116

When the number moves to 1.4117, you gained 1 PIP, and that 1 pip, could be $1, $10, $100, $1,000 and so on, depending on your lot sizes.

Get 100 of those a day, or even 50, or 20, its up to you, and how fast you want to make your money.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course it sounds far fetched, and wayyyy out there, but its true, and obtainable, but it starts with YOU.
