5% of Fukushima residents need immediate psychological care, survey says
About 5 percent of nearly 90,000 Fukushima Prefecture residents who responded to a health monitoring survey need immediate psychological care, the Fukushima prefectural government said Thursday.

The government reported at a meeting of experts that the survey on mental stress targeting about 210,000 residents in evacuation zones due to the nuclear meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi power plant showed that of the 88,613 people who responded by the end of March, 4,602, 5.2 percent, need professional care.

Cesium contaminated fish found in Tone river
Radioactive cesium exceeding the new legal limit has been found in fish in the Tone River, which passes north of Tokyo. Authorities have taken measures to stop the shipment of fish caught in the river.

Chiba prefectural officials say a silver crucian carp caught in the river contained 110 becquerels of radioactive cesium per kilogram. The new limit is 100 becquerels per kilogram.

Now, that can't be true. Atom-boyo just recently posted that he was wondering why the contamination in fish was so low...

So... the river fish are contaminated but the ocean fish are not?

Ok. Same amount of contamination, bigger dilution area. I get it.

Construction of Chernobyl reactor shelter begins
The construction of a new shelter over the damaged reactor has begun at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in the former Soviet republic of Ukraine.

The work began on Thursday, the 26th anniversary of the world's worst nuclear disaster.

The Ukrainian government plans to build a 105-meter-high, arch-shaped containment building to cover the remnants of the exploded Reactor Number 4. The construction is to be completed in 3 years at a cost of over 1.2-billon dollars.

The new structure will cover the old, concrete and metal shelter built immediately after the accident, which is feared could collapse and release radioactive substances.

This means reactor 2 is in trouble. Co-relates with gundersen's recent analysis that cooling is ineffective. Cesium increase means fission.

EU to defer releasing nuclear stress test results
The European Union is deferring its announcement of stress test results on nuclear plants across the region to the autumn of this year.

Last year's accident at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant prompted the EU to conduct the tests to check the safety of all regional nuclear plants. The tests examine the ability of reactors to survive emergencies, including plane crashes and natural disasters such as major earthquakes and tsunami.

The EU had aimed to release the final results of the stress tests by June and make concrete recommendations at a summit. But on Thursday it announced that the final report will be published in the autumn because it will take more time to complete the tests.

TEPCO submits business turnaround plan
Tokyo Electric Power Company and a state-backed fund have submitted to the government a restructuring plan to cover huge costs related to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident.

The plant's operator and the nuclear accident compensation fund finalized the plan and handed it to industry minister Yukio Edano on Friday.

Under the plan, the utility is to issue to the fund classified shares in exchange for public money worth 12.4 billion dollars. The shares are not to be traded on the market.

Takes his upper-hand away and that is not what he desires...

The problem is that I can't really monitor his posts and counter his BS much more than I have because I will be banned for stalking. I keep up with most of the fuku threads but he is always on them, posting his crap. The amount of disinfo he is getting away with is mounting and illustrated by the number of people who believe he is credible and benevolent. Not much I can do about that.

A lot of people are onto his charade, 'tho. I hope this trend continues.

Not really. The information is steady and more damning as each day passes.

Will people notice, as we do, or does it become background noise, lost in the crush of disinfo?

We need more info on reactor 2. I am afraid more bad things are going to happen with it, and soon. In my opinion, they have lost the tenuous grasp they have had on the cooling of that reactor vessel and what is left of the core.

That may be the reason for the ending of daily readings reports.

no 4 is killing me with info- slash dis-info.... the latest vid put out by TEPCO, as illustrated by Atom-Boy, shows secure structures in place.

The reason why I put together my other youtube... as 4 seriously blew big time.

Within the vid you can see the damage, and the fact, the in the last round of TPECO coverage, there were tarps

a: covering the worst pool
b: a flood gate of tarp (?) between fuel pool and basment (it is seen to the top right east at about 5:20) ie: no real containment left within a spent fuel pool...
c: a very larg gap between containment and where you could consider where water would flow to cool, but not contained within itself....., basement again?

TEPCO submits 10-year restructuring plan to gov't
Tokyo Electric Power Co. and a state-backed bailout fund submitted to the government Friday a restructuring plan to help the company overcome its financial plight following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster, such as through the injection of 1 trillion yen in public funds and electricity rate hikes.

The so-called comprehensive special business plan will become official once Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yukio Edano gives his approval, possibly in early May, paving the way for the de facto nationalization of Japan's largest utility known as TEPCO.

New tsunami standards to be set for nuclear safety
Japan's nuclear regulator says it will draw up new safety guidelines for designing nuclear power plants against tsunami. The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency held a meeting of experts on Friday to discuss the safety measures.

A tsunami twice as high as expected struck the Fukushima Daiichi plant during the March 2011 disaster, flooding emergency electricity generators and leading to core meltdowns. Experts say the plant was ill-prepared for tsunami floods or water pressure, which forced open doors at the facility.

Now where have we seen this moment before. You know, the urgent cries of those who standing on a dot of pure intentions in the center of a macrocosm whose future shape depends on fulfilling the human right of mutual assistance, without hesitation.

This is reminiscent of Gulf of Mexico, New Orleans ground zero before realizing entirely their gov't would go deaf to them in their greatest hour of need, at their weakest to take on BP who held the door shut as they dropped dead in the other side.

Have to stop now in this unfathomable cynicism.

To be learned is to trust ourselves only, wait for nothing and no one and NEVER ASK PERMISSION FOR ANYTHING.
