Flav, one of my cat's lays on my ribs when I lay on my side, too. He get's mad after a bit, though. He doesn't like it when I BREATHE!!! Thankfully, he moves after a few minutes.

For sure. By the time most people reach adulthood, they realize you don't have to believe the news to report on it.

You could tell them it doesn't matter what you believe. You're just reporting it for those who don't have six German Shepherds, multiple munitions, food, water and medicine for 10 yrs. and an in house armory. Then end it with "peace be with you."

yes mama she loves to sleep on my side, its a pain in the ass, or shall I say ribs. She is like a surfer, she just hangs on when I turn and then repositions herself.

When I get sick of it and chase her off, she just waits till I fall asleep and hops back on. Feels like she weighs 25 lbs!

Hi guys! Sorry I bounced out so quick last friday night. I had a knock at the door and there was one of my best friends with a bottle of wine and tears in her eyes. I dropped off the internet in record speed. She was having a parenting crisis. Her teens are younger than mine, so "Been there, done that". By the end of the wine she was laughing. I told her so long as we only think about force feeding them nyquil, duck taping them, and sticking them in a closet, we are still good parents. The bad parents really do it...we just think about it. Lol.

My oldest is here for a quick visit, 4 days. So far, so good. She is a hurricane though. Shit is scattered from here to there and she just got here last night. I love it though, wouldn't trade it for anything.

I also just finished up booking the annual girls trip. This year is Vegas in mid April. Thursday till Sunday. We have Kenny Chesney tickets for Friday night and Bon Jovi for Saturday night. Managed to get a 4 bedroom house with a pool and hot tub so we don't have to stay in a hotel. Total per person for the trip is $550. Not bad with airfare, housing, car, and concert tickets. The annual girls trip keeps me sane. Hubby has hunting season, I have this.

It's been a crazy busy week, but all is good on the western front.

We wondered what happened to you, SO. Figured you either fell asleep or were downloading kindle books. And the whole while you were getting soused and laughing it up.

SO, when my kids were little, there was a stunt that was really popular about wearing a velcro suit, jumping on a mini-tramp and sticking to a wall that was covered in velcro. We all thought that would be a GREAT way to deal with our kids. Too bad velcro was REALLY expensive back then!LOL

She did make a decision. She is looking at deployment in June. I held my tongue. She said for the most part she will be excluded to base only, 12 hour shifts, 3 weeks straight with no days off. She wants to bank some money. Again, I held my tongue. You would have been proud of me.

I still find time to read at night, that's what I do before lights out. We did get a bit soused, good thing she is only 2 blocks away so we walk between houses.

Having DD here is such a warm and fuzzy feeling, but the house is suffering. Less than 24 hours and stuff is everwhere. That is why we nicknamed her "Hurricane Alyssa".

The girls trip is looking pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. Vegas, Baby!

I know what you mean about the prayer list. Funny thing, years ago I told my kids that their "friends" on the internet were just imaginary friends. Now I get it. You all are my friends, even though we have never met in real life.

Wow Mama, hope you get that fixed up quick! SO, I do a girls weekend too, we usually go to the beach for a 3 day and its sooo nice. We keep it local so we can do it in spring and fall. Summer is just to damn hot to sit at the beach. As it is we get the 90s in spring and fall

What I wouldn't give to be sitting there now! LOL

I sure hope your heat gets fixed fast. You don't need me to tell you it's below zero chill factor here and it probably is the same where you are. Poor hubs. Do you have an electric heater or know someone who has one they aren't using? Those little Mr. Heater propane things work well and will heat up a house too. If he isn't able to get it fixed right away, hope you look into alternatives real quick.

How miserable to not feel well and have to work on something. Let us know when you get your heat back, ok?

Just a short time yesterday it got kind of nasty TB. Not much accumulation, but bitter cold and lots of wind. Hope things are nice your way. Soooooo looking forward to summer.

I've been doing laundry and the little one and I have been camping out under the towels that are nice and warm from the dryer! May have to reheat them again! LOL

We have a space heater but I also have a vaulted ceiling!
Guess where all that heat is going! May have to move everyone and everything to a smaller enclosed room! LOL

I wouldn't mind the cat laying on me now!

Oh Yikes, Mama. Your ceiling sounds nice most of the time but wouldn't be right now.

You probably already know most of the tips, but just in case, if you wear loose fitting layers it helps. A hat is about the best. We loose a lot of heat through our heads and a hat keeps it in. A stocking hat is great.

You had a great idea on the towels. A desperate measure with an electric dryer is to diconnect the hose that goes outdoors and let it vent directly into the house. A nylon stocking over the end keeps the lint and dust from getting as much in the house and humid air is warmer than dry.

If you don't want to do that, a pot of boiling water helps too.

Is there a way you can shut off your kitchen? Even putting a blanket or shower curtain over the door? Baking cookies or cooking anything would warm a small area...unless you're fortunate enough to have a huge kitchen. 8) If you have an oil lantern or candle, it will put off some heat too. It would help to keep the water pipes thawed too to have it warm in the kitchen. Don't forget to run a little water in the bathroom sink, tub, and toilet once in a while to keep it from freezing.

If you have some rice or beans and an old sock you can make a small body heater by filling it and microwaving it. If you have cast iron, putting it in the oven with whatever you're cooking will put out some heat for a while after it comes out.

A heating pad, hot water bottle, electric blanket?

If the kitchen idea works, you could have a tea party for the little one. Tea is warming, fresh cookies are mood lifters, and a lantern on the table for atmosphere. LOL.

If you get too desperate, hop in the car go for a ride and run the heater full blast til it gets fixed.
