I try to learn from all religions, all spiritual practices, all philosophies.

Brought up Catholic, I found that lacking, moved on to Christian, then Bhuddist, then Zen, then Qabalist then Orthodox Hindu, then Sufi and on and on.

I was however able to come back to Christianity and see it in a new light later on but it's only a few pages, Jesus's actual words.

The Holy Spirit or Prana or Hare or my favorite term, Light, shines down upon all who seek and think about God, it's universal, certainly not exclusive to any one religion but rather incluse of all.

But I don't really like the term Religion, it has implications of shackles being placed upon you and restraints from seeking in other places. Threats against your immortal soul for simply seeking God in other religions are seriously damaging lies that are unfortunately, very effective as will be seen demonstrated by people on this very thread as they tell you you will burn in hell. Just Lovely, very loving.

One should ask him/herself "Am I RELIGIOUS because of fear of God/Hell or am I SPIRITUAL out of love for and joy from God?"

In the end it's very personal, it's between You and God. let no other tell you they can broker that relationship for you.

Today I participate in a Fraternity of open minded spiritual people, it's called The Golden Dawn and it's not a religion, it's way, way better, for me.

The FSM(flying spaghetti monster)parody is an instance of intelligent design, but unjustified as it attributes properties to the designer which can not be inferred from biological complexity.

As a material object, extended in space and time- it can not be the cause of the Big Bang, because the CAUSE of the big bang has to exist BEYOND space and time and be the creator of all matter and energy in the universe.

So....the FSM parody does NOTHING to undercut the standard arguments for a trancendent creator.

I'm a Born Again follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.By HIS GRACE and MERCY ONLY. I was a Catholic, but Jesus showed me His death on the cross was for MY salavtion. There was nothing I could do to add to His Holy Sacrfice. I judge no Catholic, or any one else, but I know I am a Christian.

Catholics are not christian. I know because I once was a catholic. I prayed to Mary. Thanks to Lisa Lisa I now pray to the Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. I have thrown out all my statues of Mary and I have put my rosary in the trash along with my prayer book. Thank you lisa lisa.

2000 years ago modern religion was started by a guy getting hung on a cross and to this day wars are being waged and people killed because of religion.

you left out none, you don't need religion in your life to know good and truth. all you need is a brain. i was raised in church as catholic and went to many other religions to educate myself about them. in a lot of them they would talk down about how someone else was doing something in their own life. stating that that church know what was better for them. which we all know is a bunch of crock. then i read all that i could about each one (yes it took time). getting information from both these churches and outside sources. it didn't take to long before i saw that most outside sources had the same views about all religions. and the religions had the same views about all others but their own. not in all cases, some churches had a little different view then a church of the same religion one town over. but in reading the religions one thing does stand out. a simple simple message hidden within pages and pages of half truths and lager fables. to just have a kind heart and be respectful to all.

but that has been lost for a long time. and it's sad.

historically, my family were JWs. my grandmother was convinced that she would see armageddon during her lifetime. she died at 95.

i was raised a JW and as a child and I was taught that the world would be ending in 1976. but, i would be in a better place? i dont recommend teaching your children that they will be dieing anytime soon...

when the JW thing didnt work out, my parents started shipping me off to some nazarene church on saturdays and sundays. i found out later it was so they could have lots of weekend sex...

its been science, of all things, that has helped me understand my creator better...

The "creator" is far more likely to be a computer programmer and what we think of reality is just a future advanced civilization running simulations... of when their previously STUPID ancestors believed in mythology.
The entire christian thing is just a rehash of ancient religions, and yet you laugh at people worshiping sun and moon gods - just as future people will laugh at people believing in a "creator". Its actually pretty sad that in this day and age some people need to cling on to ancient myths.
