Christians: We are not under the law of the Old Testament....................

Hi all...I have read thru this thread now twice and have ???? I don't know what I believe for sure about the name or law or what ever but i do want to know...how do you keep the commandments?? Specifically??? Do you not turn on lights...light a fire etc??? If I want to do what you are saying..............what must I do????? I am searching. I see that the 'name' to call on is different by different posters and they almost always are completely opposing on how they see things as truth, this leaves me completely alone in what I feel might be truth.

well brother/sister im going to tell you what I think, mind you this is my opinion of how it works:
1. the name of God through Jesus but you can use:
God, Yah, Yahshua, Yeshua, Jesus, I think theres a few more translations, however, im not fluent in Hebrew.
Me personally I use the names God and Jesus.
2. the commandments:
you can follow all 10, I dont believe any bad will come by following them directly.
However I use the passage Matthew 22:36-40 as my guide of the commandments, and all the commandments fall into place through this.
3. as far as lights on or off, or a fire, im not quite sure what your talking about here, so im gonna say the only thing about it that i personally know of:
when you pray to God, do it with the lights out, in secret, tje bible recommends your closet.
that way your light shines trough the darkness. Dont be like many others that boast their prayers in public, thats between you and God.
4. as far as the Truth:
bow down and ask God to show you the Truth, but know with Truth comes sorrow.
Believe me when I say He will show you Truth if you ask.
Also search out Truth, dont just take any persons word on it, even mine, search it out, study it!
Place your faith in God He will guide you!

Some heartfelt advise. Start with daily prayer, speak to
God every day. It doesn't have to be memorized prayer.
Think of God the Father, Our Lord and God the Holy Spirit
as the Father in the Prodigal Son parable. We are the
"son" running back into His arms.

It's true, the more you pray, the more you want to pray.

And very important, examine your life, go through the 10
Commandments as a guide. REPENT and CONFESS your serious,
Catholics call them "mortal" sins to God.

Prayer and confession for the life of your soul.

Everyone can do this....

Hi Krime...thanks for responding to me. I am a 'sister':) I didn't really explain well what I was asking......I was wanting to see how others 'kept the Sabbath' and what they did. I worked for a Jewish family and they had so many do's and don't's for the Sabbath that I got lost in it all. So my ??? about the lights and fire were in regards to how this family did things. They could not turn on lights, drive in cars, open doors, etc from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown so I was trying to see what you all did for honoring the sabbath and keeping it 'holy'. I am praying now for answers and do believe that my Father will answer. I just was wanting to see where some of you are coming from, does that make sense?? As for the name....it doesn't seem that anyone (at least in this thread) agrees to what the name really is so that was my other ?? Anyway.........thanks for taking time to answer me.
