Magnetic fields created before the first stars
[link to www.spacedaily.com]

That's kind of obvious, if it were true that there was a place in time when/where stars never existed.

It means to look at yourself and not see the plain truth of what you are and what motivates you.

What you are?

How could one ever know?

It is fluid in Nature, constantly changing, merging, morphing.

What is Self then?

Is it static?

hmm
 Quoting: Seer777

literally true in electrical definition
once you have static- ed (arced) into existence electromagnetic structural formation occurs

the near instant static arc (on/off/pulse) and the electromagnetic structure "fed" near instantly from/by static continuously is the 2 which is your self
the power and the glory

Exactly. Which is why the bent of Juan Matus's knowledge is bent on being fluid, light, being able to change oneself.

The biggest threat to the ability we have to change ourselves, according to Juan Matus...is personal history.

“In order to help his ward to erase personal history, the warrior as a teacher teaches three techniques: losing self-importance, assuming responsibility for one’s acts, and using death as an adviser. Without the beneficial effect of these three techniques, erasing personal history would involve being shifty, evasive and unnecessarily dubious about oneself and one’s actions.”
 Quoting: Jonny Blaze

This seems to come up a lot.

The suspension of memory.

I don't see how that could possibly work in any context. I have had several discussions with my brother regarding this.

Where it says 'erase personal history' what would that entail exactly?

It reminds me a bit of what I think of as 'boot camp'. That scene from Full Metal Jacket. Funny but also really disturbing.

Stripping one of their 'personal' memory to place what in its stead?

Proper conduct?

Obedience?

One can achieve these things without erasure of personal history me thinks...

I don't know if you can suspend memories. But you can develop a sense of detachment.

With this sense, you can explore the emotional connections you have with these memories. By recapitulation, you could view the 'memory' in its proper context, which is one free of any emotion, merely observing what happened.

Erasing personal history, however, is more than just recapitulation. It involves becoming familiar with the totality of oneself.

“Personal history must be constantly renewed by telling parents, relatives, and friends everything one does. On the other hand, for the warrior who has no personal history, no explanations are needed; nobody is angry or disillusioned with his acts. And above all, no one pins him down with their thoughts or expectations.”

The engravings translate to "This space intentionally left blank."

The prayer is inscribed in an ancient script, rarely used today. It seems to be a philippic against small insects, absent-mindedness, and the picking up and dropping of small objects.

The gate is open; through it you can see a desolation, with a pile of mangled bodies in one corner. Thousands of voices, lamenting some hideous fate, can be heard.
The way through the gate is barred by evil spirits, who jeer at your attempts to pass.

Notice that the quote about personal history is precisely that it tends to force others to acquiesce to a sense of 'proper conduct' and 'obedience' as dictated by the eyes of the onlooker.

Personal history has a large outward social component to it.

I see.

Yes.

I have mentioned that in the past as well.

When one is able to bypass Self, trauma doesn't linger...

Removing attachment to trauma would be the most effective usage of this idea of detachment I think.

However, I am recalling Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind...where one would request to lose said memory of an event or entire person just because it was to painful to recall.

You know, thinking on it more, there truly is no one to blame. I am viewing it from a state of hindsight is 20/20. Saying something like 'serves them right', is kind of based on the 'ego' of that hindsight.

Yes, I've seen that movie. There was something very sad about it.

I would say that generally, something always pushes back when we try to change ourselves.

I would call it 'the human form'. It only appears to be the 'mind' in some cases.

Well, if we think of trauma as touching a hot stove and being burned.

The memory of said burn will cause one to act differently in attempt to avoid painful burns in the future.

A necessary memory to hold for the continuation of said individual who desires not to be constantly nursing burns.

Other kinds of trauma however...

It seems some people are able to turn trauma into something beautiful by helping others get over theirs.

A mutual healing.

However, the memory remains.

Perhaps one could think of trauma like the phoenix. One must 'burn down' the memory and then allow it to re-birth in a fashion which allows one to move forward.

Interesting. But what use does the emotional attachment of being burned truly serve? As a reminder?

What about those who never touched the stove and never will? How do they do it?

Whatever has to be learned has to be learned the hard way.
