With this sense, you can explore the emotional connections you have with these memories. By recapitulation, you could view the 'memory' in its proper context, which is one free of any emotion, merely observing what happened. Erasing personal history, however, is more than just recapitulation. It involves becoming familiar with the totality of oneself. “Personal history must be constantly renewed by telling parents, relatives, and friends everything one does. A necessary memory to hold for the continuation of said individual who desires not to be constantly nursing burns. Other kinds of trauma however... It seems some people are able to turn trauma into something beautiful by helping others get over theirs. A mutual healing. However, the memory remains. Perhaps one could think of trauma like the phoenix.
