Re: X Marks the Spot
you know what i find strange in all of our creation histories
we have buildings older than the writing dates , buildings we would struggle to recreate today
and
we have creation stories never updated to match the knowing that must have existed to construct the buildings
why leave the stories unedited
unless
the builders and the history writers are two different people as in:
local (creation history writers)
non local (structure creators)
 Quoting: aether

What if some of those buildings are not from 'this earth'? Like portal from other earths/dimensions.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32430667

i believe we are now certain the builders are not from earth
 Quoting: aether

i know aliens are popular and there was a time when i did not doubt space fairing humanoids, having snarphled an *enormous* amount of science fiction: you should see my library...

but recently i've begun to seriouly doubt their existence, not just here on earth, but everywhere/anywhere. Not that there aren't other life like us and the rest of the biosphear on other planets, i'm pretty sure there's lots of those. i just don't think that there's any life like us wandering around in metal boxes zooming between the stars.

which is kind of a bummer, cuz i can't enjoy much of my sci-fi anymore...

here's my thinking:

science (and be extension, science fiction) posits planets and stars as mere matter, complex matter to be sure, but entirely free from thinking or conciousnes. They imagine humans or human like animals to be the currunt peak of evolution (discounting the whole energy being thing) raised by chance and survival of the fittest to our 'amazing' hieghts of awesome itelectual prowess and that given time and ingenuity, they (or us) eventually build craft with which they/we zoom off and explore and/or colonize the rest of the galaxy.

someday to join the galactic community of spacefairing clans filled with all manor of adventure and drama....

sometimes there's this as yet (even to advance races) unknowable all pervading creator god or gods, but usually not.

it was all very exciting for a young and then not so young man: particularly in light of the mundane life i was forced to live within...

but years of gobbling actual science coupled with my own thinking and a couple of truly astonishing experiences have changed my thinking on the subject.

starting small: i have realized that humans (and other animals) are not 'single' organisms: we are colonies. We function as a result of a very complex and multifacetted ecosystem that recieves and process information on many levels: chemical, electrical, and magnetic. That we are legion. the "I" is a construct of the mind. a small part as it turns out. the "I" is an illusion. The self results from the colective information processing of all the life that lives in us and on us - did you know that if our skin was not atached to us, it could be considered a life form all on its own? It has two boundaries(inside and outside) it's own neuronic processors and functions almost by itself, protecting all the life inside and in reurn being fed nurtrients by that same life: our skin is *alive* in its own right. All the way down to the cellular level, each bit is a collony, a collective.

This doesn't even include the order of magnitude more of 'foreign' life that we depend on for almost every aspect of our functioning: there are bacteria that sit on top of DNA and manage its devision, copying itself into each new divided cell. i find that fact amazing.

it's almost as if we are a substrate on which this life can live.

Did you know that the heart has more neurons than muscle fiber?

Did you know that the placenta has its own 'brain"?!?

But what happens when you take this life *out* of the womb that is the body?

it dies, that's what.

the life that we depend on for life cannot live outside of the enclosure that we call a singular being, a single "I".

we are legion.

and even within the etherial nature of our mind, there exists not one, but many. The mental construct that we think of as a single mind is in fact a commitee and the decisions and actions we make are infact the result of a consensus of many voices: all humans are schisophrentic, its simply a matter of degree whether we call them 'insane' or not.

and to the celluar and microbial life that lives as a part of us (largely minding their own business) we are God, and the many voices that exist within our minds are angels.

we are the God of our own body and the voices that make up the commitee of decision makers are the angels: each with their own agenda and desires. All driving the huge terestrial 'ship' thru the 'galaxy; of the earth, moving at incredibly slow rates compared to the quick functioning of a cell or a bacterium and traveling thru the 'vast' distances of the earthen 'galaxy'.

if they leave us (and they do) they get sick and die...

so now, scale that up to a planet, moving thru the galaxy at (to us) incredibly slow rates, perusing the wider galaxy thru (to us) vast distances.

can u see where i'm going with this...?

Now consider all the medical science that shows how much astronauts suffer when they spend just short periods in very near space...

We are part of the body/mind that is a planet and when we leave that body we suffer and if we go too far, as we will probably attempt to, we will die.

We depend on Gaia for our well being and outside of her womb we will become sick and die.

There are no aliens.

The wider galaxy is for the stellar and planetary minds.

and all the rest of the aliens that are like us are also bound to their planetary bodies. Sure they exist, but they do not fly around in zippy little metal boxes preying on innocent humans.

that's how i see it anyway.

it just makes sense to me, paticularly in light of the more astounding events that have been imposed upon me.

yep.

Re: X Marks the Spot
Scientists have reported tardigrades in hot springs, on top of the Himalayas, under layers of solid ice and in ocean sediments. Many species can be found in a milder environment like lakes, ponds and meadows, while others can be found in stone walls and roofs.

Tardigrades are most common in moist environments, but can stay active wherever they can retain at least some moisture. Tardigrades are one of the few groups of species that are capable of reversibly suspending their metabolism and going into a state of cryptobiosis.

Several species regularly survive in a dehydrated state for nearly ten years. Depending on the environment they may enter this state via anhydrobiosis, cryobiosis, osmobiosis or anoxybiosis.

While in this state their metabolism lowers to less than 0.01% of normal and their water content can drop to 1% of normal.

Their ability to remain desiccated for such a long period is largely dependent on the high levels of the non-reducing sugar, trehalose, which protects their membranes. In this cryptobiotic state the tardigrade is known as a tun.

Tardigrades have been known to withstand the following extremes while in this state:

Temperature – tardigrades can survive being heated for a few minutes to 151 °C (424 K or 304 F),[26] or being chilled for days at (73 K or -328 F),[26] or for a few minutes at (~1 degree above absolute zero or -458 F).[27]

Pressure – they can withstand the extremely low pressure of a vacuum and also very high pressures, more than 1,200 times atmospheric pressure. Tardigrades can survive the vacuum of open space and solar radiation combined for at least 10 days. Some species can also withstand pressure of 6,000 atmospheres, which is nearly six times the pressure of water in the deepest ocean trench, the Mariana trench.

Dehydration – although there is one report of a leg movement in a 120-year-old specimen from dried moss, this is not generally considered "survival", and the longest tardigrades have been shown to survive in a dry state is nearly 10 years.

When exposed to extremely low temperatures, their body composition goes from 85% water to only 3%. As water expands upon freezing, dehydration ensures the tardigrades do not get ripped apart by the freezing ice (as waterless tissues cannot freeze).

Radiation – tardigrades can withstand median lethal doses of 5,000 Gy (of gamma-rays) and 6,200 Gy (of heavy ions) in hydrated animals (5 to 10 Gy could be fatal to a human).[32] The only explanation found in earlier experiments for this ability was that their lowered water state provides fewer reactants for the ionizing radiation. However, subsequent research found that tardigrades, when hydrated, still remain highly resistant to shortwave UV radiation in comparison to other animals, and that one factor for this is their ability to efficiently repair damage to their DNA resulting from that exposure.

Environmental toxins – tardigrades can undergo chemobiosis—a cryptobiotic response to high levels of environmental toxins. However, these laboratory results have yet to be verified.

Outer space – In September 2007, tardigrades were taken into low Earth orbit on the FOTON-M3 mission and for 10 days were exposed to the vacuum of space. After being rehydrated back on Earth, over 68% of the subjects protected from high-energy UV radiation survived and many of these produced viable embryos, and a handful had survived full exposure to solar radiation. In May 2011, Italian scientists sent tardigrades into space along with other extremophiles on STS-134, the final flight of Space Shuttle Endeavour.

Their conclusion was that microgravity and cosmic radiation "did not significantly affect survival of tardigrades in flight, confirming that tardigrades represent a useful animal for space research." In November 2011, they were among the organisms to be sent by the US-based Planetary Society on the Russian Fobos-Grunt mission's Living Interplanetary Flight Experiment to Phobos; however, the launch failed.

That is true, many feel the sensation of an idea just popping up.

But some also connect certain things, previously experienced to bring out new ideas, that does not seem to come from some place divine, but rather from our selves.

To be fair, the ideas could come from the subconscious mind, it often works on a problem that you are not aware of, like a name you have forgotten and you try hard to remember, then forgetting about it, and finding the name popping up at random a few hours later, would you credit that to something else aswell?

But I agree, the ideas and inspiration we pull out from the blue, must come from somewhere :)

Linked with a Star
Feb 27, 2013

Our fortunes are inextricably connected to the Sun’s activity.

Now that is the wisdom of a man, in every instance of his labor, to hitch his wagon to a star, and see his chore done by the gods themselves.

–- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Many Picture of the Day articles discuss the linkages between galactic electric currents, solar electric currents, and terrestrial electric currents. Earth is connected to a circuit that flows through the cosmos, but that circuit is difficult to perceive.

In recent years, the discovery of a “previously unknown” mechanism for transmitting energy from the Sun into Earth’s magnetosphere was announced. Charged particles called the solar wind erupt from the Sun in all directions, but how the electric charge is transferred to the magnetosphere is a mystery.

Natural processes depend on energy input of some kind that then changes from one form to another: chemical energy is released by fire, which is then changed into heat energy that can boil water and drive pistons with kinetic energy. Consensus views also suggest that this holds true for the geomagnetic relationship between the Sun and Earth..................

'Mach c'? Scientists observe sound traveling faster than the speed of light

In this schematic of the acoustical test system, the scientists could create superluminal group velocity of sound waves, as well as negative group velocity. In the latter case, the peak of the output pulse traveling through the loop filter exited the filter before the peak of the input pulse had reached the beginning of the filter
 Quoting: observation

Pulsar bursts move 'faster than light'

Every physicist is taught that information cannot be transmitted faster than the speed of light. Yet laboratory experiments done over the last 30 years clearly show that some things appear to break this speed limit without upturning Einstein's special theory of relativity. Now, astrophysicists in the US have seen such superluminal speeds in space – which could help us to gain a better understanding of the composition of the regions between stars.

Re: X Marks the Spot
if most of what is happening within our universe is happening at faster than light velocity by default precognition is accessing that which exists to be accessed before it becomes noticeable (visible)

As smart as we like to believe we are, human beings still cannot reconcile major differences between how we understand things to work at the very smallest levels (subatomic) and the largest levels (cosmic or astrological).

And because the things we observe in the night sky, like the stars and planets, must be made from the same general stuff the things we experience in our daily lives, like our bodies and water, this is a pretty big quandary to have while claiming to be so intelligent!

One of Nassim’s coolest assertions is the idea that science has been looking at the WRONG things for hundreds of years. Traditionally, human beings have looked to the stars and planets, oceans and forests, bodies and organisms to try and figure out the laws of the universe (it makes sense to try and figure it out from things easy to observe).

Nassim looks at it the other way, and focuses on what comprises 99.99% of the known universe: empty space. [link to worldwidetippingpoint.com]
 Quoting: observation

In volume, 99.999% of all the observable matter in the universe exists in the plasma state. This had led to the coinage of the term "Plasma Universe." [link to www.plasmauniverse.info]
 Quoting: observation

if 99.99% of what is known to exist is invisible/non material structured indra
and
99.999% of the 01% that is indra`s visible structure is in a plasma state

indra`s personality is becoming visible to our senses

this gives scale /z\ to what our non material dimensions are in comparison to what we see at light velocity
thus we may agree
there is more than meets the eye

and i hear what you say, bro, and if i understand you correctly, agree.

i would have phrased the bold : emerge as a result of universal rules.

i imagine totality as a marriage between the male rigid matrix structure and the female infinitely flexible growth impetus. The first defines the bounds and the other the expression.

i also feel that God is as much and expression of this marriage as humans or microbes are: the God that we as minute humans can knowingly experience anyway.

my God is only one more scale up from us: She has Her own God of which She is a part, but that being is to far up the scale for us to directly experience.

why do humans have to believe that the God of our experience must be the God of the entire cosmos?

arrogance.

we have yet to fully own our place along the ladder of scaled experience, i feel.

She is enuf for me...
