But also arrogance, self importance... these words come from ignorance. Almost everyone thinks he/she is important or have things in their lives that he/she considers important. But nothing is import, absolutely nothing. Think about it. At the moment you consider something (an action, intention, person, identity, etc) important... you're making an out of balance view. So long we can't get rid off our importances in life.. our lives and those of others will be off balance. You will experience words as; lack, racism, arrogance, fear, etc etc. |

To deliberately try to insult, injure or otherwise assault people under it's guise is deplorable IMO. It incites reaction and hate. There is no real discussion under this scenario. No understanding and no search for truth or common ground. Degrading ethnic/religious types or women seems to be popular here. Paranoia and fear disables clear vision. Those that enable it will fall victim to it in the long run. |

I've never HAD to be around people like this growing up but I do have some very close people to me now that are exactly like this and it's one of the worse traits, imho. I have kind of a hard time dealing with it and many times I point out that I don't like those comments or they have a skewed view of the world but it's so ingrained that I normally just keep my mouth shut because it's people old enough that they most likely won't change now. I can't rant enough about how much I loathe this quality in a person and I sometimes am embarrassed when out about it. The only conclusion I've come to is they have never learned how to make themselves feel good, it always has be a comparison so they feel exalted. I should shut up now. |

Sometime trolls and bullies do what they do because some people over-react or are easily riled up and it's fun for them - it gives them a sense of power. Ultimately people should take some responsibility for their own feelings - too many people get 'hurt' even when someone simply disagrees with them, offers even very constructive criticism or has different tastes. It is amazing how many people take even their political opinions or musical tastes personally as though they are extensions of their own ego, and take even simple disagreements as a personal attack. I took my hubby to one of my favorite breakfast diners that was kinda edgy in my home city. We didn't know each other very well at the time and he is very conservative and I like to be around different people although we're both traditional people if that makes sense. The waitress came to our table with her tattooed arms and a barbed wire necklace to take our order. My husband looked at her like she had 3 heads, he just stared. She left and I started talking about other things and he commented on if I saw "that". Well, yes, I did and I didn't really think there was anything to talk about but he stared at her all the way to and fro and wanted to have a conversation about it. I was hoping she didn't hear him since I'm skeptical of what people do to my food, anyway. We learned a little more about each other through that experience but I've had experiences with other people that were loud and embarrassing like when people have something they have no control over, it just sounds mean and why stare at them from the moment you see them until they walk all the way across the room? I really don't get it. Do they not know that's rude and unnecessary? If a person has vitaligo staring them down the whole time is not going to correct it and only makes that person feel uncomfortable. |

Obviously, there are those who feel so crappy about themselves that the only way they know to make themselves feel better is to put others down. If that is the case, why not just work on your self-esteem rather than attempting to hurt others? There is at least one little thing about every single person in the world that can be complimented. Why not try to dish out compliments rather than insults? Wouldn't the world be a much happier place if people threw out compliments like they do insults?
