Are women doubling up on menstual cycles lately?

please on a seperate thread. As a man I know that this will go sour very quickly.

I am from Iowa. 40 yrs old, RH negative, never been on birth control, never had any children, started my period when I was 9 years old.
I have always had heavy periods starting around age 11. I would go for almost 10 days straight and 8 of those were super heavy. Also, I started around every 23 days or so. For the last 6 months, I have had 2 periods a month, and the first and second days are HELL. I feel like I'm bleeding to death, and then all at once it will slow on the 3rd day and stop by day 5. Of course it's nice compared to what I used to have, but twice the PMS is about to kill me~ not to mention what it does to my husband. Lol.
My best friend had a period this year from January to June, stopped and started again in July till October. She just had a hysterectomy 2 weeks ago, because she couldn't handle the bleeding and clots for that long anymore. She was a total emotional wreck. We both wonder what is going on. Thank you so much for this thread. Now we know we are not alone!!

I also love finding hints of mystery, but your answer is more non-think than anything.

Yeh, you know a couple of women and they don´t notice anything. That clearly outweighs all of the experiences mentioned here.

No, this is happening too spontaneous.
Why all of a sudden would this start since this year, especially the last month and weeks...

I asked a friend of mine. First one I asked and yes, she has irregular cycles too, as what is described here.

It's the solar maximum. Tons of women pregnant - screwed up cycles. Happened in 2003-2004 also.

Wouldn't all the women reporting irregular/abnormal menstrual cycle activity in this thread have remembered if this same situation happened in 2003/2004??? Seems to me this wouldn't be generating the responses that it is if everyone experienced this just 11 years ago (or every 11 years).

Sorry, but I disagree. I have never in my life had screwed up cycles unless there was clear reason for it, like a short-lived identifiable illness or pregnancy. Nor have I heard of so many women sharing the same experience of shortened cycles or I, we would have heard about it.

Shortened cyles with hormonal imbalances that do not equate with increased fertility as is assumed here..this is not a sign of anything 'natural', the sun, the moon, rosey cheeked cupids and arrows. it is a sign of being collectively f*cked with chemically.

Agreed about the fertility. Having a too short luteal phase (the time between ovulation and the start of the next period) is a common reason for infertility - conception happens just fine, but the egg doesn't have time to implant and get established before the period starts. Someone having two true cycles a month would probably not be having an adequate luteal phase.

11 Years ago, the fall of 2001, my periods began coming 2 weeks apart. For years prior to this they were months apart. Eventually they got closer together until I bled pretty much daily for over a year before I could have my cancerous uterus removed in summer 2003 at the ripe old age of 31. My non-stop bleeding began before age 30.

I have been following this thread with great interest since it began last night. Everything I am reading is very familiar. And terrifying.

My cancer was caused by a hormone imbalance.

A few weeks ago after almost ten years post hysterectomy I thought I was losing my mind because I appeared to be very lightly spotting one day. It happened again around the full moon last week. I am kinda freaked out now. I am 40.

I have an 18 year old daughter. She also has been irregular since onset. She has now had 3 periods in last 2 months. She told me yesterday she has been having the few days light then a couple of weeks off them light again.

We live in Louisiana. The state forces immunizations to have your child enrolled in school. A few years ago they caught up to us as I had not gotten my her shots in over a decade. Katrina allowed a lot of lag time. Because we don't have insurance we go to a "charity" clinic. They tried to force the gardisil on my 14 year old. I refused repeatedly. Had to talk to 3 different people, told them all no and even then the nurse tried to administer the shot. I demanded to see her draw the 2 required shots from the vials and nothing else was being given. Man was she pissed because she had to throw out some poison. She did finally draw the required ones in front of me from sealed vials I inspected. The chicken pox and MMR shots they gave her caused her to not get a period for months after.

After my experiences and now reading this I truly believe it is depopulation being done on purpose.

There are hormones and/or endocrine disrupting ingredients in all of our food, drinking water, and medications.

Soy is in everything.

I saw a story recently about how the teen pregnancy rate has dropped dramatically in the last couple of years. It may not be because of the free birth control they began giving at schools. But the very things we consume every day to survive.

Keep on top of your symptoms ladies. The clots lead to pain. Unbelievable pain. It is not normal. See a doctor.

Mine are just all over the place...skip a month, two the next month, heavy, light, absurdly light....

It's crazy.

But I'm in my late 40's so i don't worry too much. Just figure it's pre-mens.

I do recall having a 14 day period sometime in my late 30's. Possibly in 2003.

I went to a doctor I believe, but it ended the next day.

Three years and half ago I suddenly started to have period one week earlier and lasting 2 weeks. And it went like that for almost 3 years. Eventually it started to come normal and sometimes at a while "out of normal" (like last month when I had it again earlier and lasting like 10 days).
Needless to say that all this time I went to the, did all kind of medical investigation (including tests for cancer, EKG, hormonal tests) and ....nothing. Everything seems perfect. They game me hormonal pills but I refused to take them.
Besides, I have recently started to see a connection between my menstrual cycle and moon cycle...hmmm.

Btw, I am 29 years old and I have a kid of 8 years old.

So yes, it looks really weird, and it's even more weird to find out that so many women experience this. It could also be something related to food and what we eat? (and hormons used to grow food in the past years? )I don't know.

I have had 3 in the past 6 weeks....I was thinking stress, now who knows?? I just hope this pattern ends quick!!

Sounds like a medical condition called menorrhagia
which is basically a estrogen overload from many causes most which can b fixed before they progress into worse things.

My cycles have been right on but the actual period is different. For example my last period was 9 days whereas a regular and is about 3 days. Bleeding has been super heavy duty. Also cramping has been worse than normal and mine are usually can't do anything while cramping.

This is very interesting. But short cycles or two periods in a thirty day period make women less fertile. A long luteal phase (long after ovulation) is good for fertility.

I will guess the frequent and long periods are caused by nerves or hormones in food. Maybe detox.

Or...women exposed to each others pheromones cycle together. In winter, there is probably more intense hormone exposure in workplaces--in theory pheromone clouds could circulate in heating systems--closed windows, winter coats, etc. A few women with unhealthily short cycles might trigger short cycles in everyone. But its nature preventing pregnancy by shortening the cycle and increasing infertile days.

I am 44. I live in Florida. I have two adult children. My daughter turned 21 in March and we are in the same house. Her best friend turned 21 last wk and we only see her once every few months; she was on the pill.

It started in April/May for us. We have all been a wk apart for the last 10 years. We all start on the same date each month. My daughter started on the 13th of the month, I was on the 20th and the best friend was on the 27th. (which is odd because cycles are usually X amount of days apart, not on a specific date) My daughter and I last 3 days. Hers is heavy, mine is light. Her best friends lasts 10 days and is heavy.

In April none of us had a cycle. My daughters best friend went to the dr. thinking she was pregnant and was not. The doctor did urine, blood and ultrasound tests. All 3 confirmed no pregnancy.

The next month all 3 of us had 2 cycles.

In June my daughter and I had 2 cycles while my daughters best friend had none.

In mid July my daughters best friend found out she was 3 wks pregnant.

My daughter and I have had 2 very painful cycles and ovulations per month since then.

Back in May when all 3 of us had 2 cycles we immediately tried to figure out what we did differently to cause it. We thought it might be cause we all died our hair using the same brand of hair dye. (we had never done that before) We decided it was simply late in April so we ended up with 2 in May. When June came around and 2 of us had 2 cycles while one of us had none, we knew some thing strange was going on, but figured we were just weird.

After reading through all these pages, I now see it is not just us and something bigger must be going on.

Agree 200%. Furthermore, cycles don't/can't synch hormones to create 2 complete cycles in so short a time. Whacked bleeding is understandable.

After reading this thread and reporting my double cycles, I thought well at least my daughter is regular. Well I told her about all the other women going through what I am, then she tells me she has doubled on her cycle this last few months.

We need to call our GYN's and ask about this. Any Med people here to report on this, dr's nurses?

Just a thought to add, if perchance you're 'active' 1 in 4 pregnancies pass unnoticed in the same way you're describing as a supercopiousowie period.

I'd been having two a month but this past month, got none. True, I'm 44 and have no children so I think this is the end throes of my menstruation, but I was bleeding badly for the past 3 months 2x's/month and had AWFUL cramps and am so thankful none came this month...

correction to my earlier post; i mentioned 3 months 2x per month and none last month but it was 4 months 2x per month starting in July and October l month a two week bloodbath of just 1 period and unbelievable cramps...I think I forgot about it because it was scary and totally not pleasurable..I don't have insurance, so I wasn't sure what to do...I was pleased, though, got an early period at beginning of November after that and it was heavy and long and crampy again, but didn't get period at end of month with full moon as I usually did like clockwork. I don't take birth control because my husband, who was married previously, has been snipped. I guess maybe then I'm due again any moment...and I have been bitchy so maybe its the stellar PMS I've been experiencing. Due to the fact I'm pre-menopausal, I don't think much of my periods which have always been light and short and like clockwork, so I thought for sure since July I was bleeding out. Thankful to hear I'm not the only one but I find this whole thing really distressing and curious...

I really think there must be something to this...I'm not around any menstruating women and this is happening to me; I've been unemployed since June and not in any particular distress except being bored out of my mind. My mother, whom I live with, has already passed menopause and my husband and my father are pretty much all I see, so the concept that women in the same proximity of each other affecting each other, while it may be true to some extent, is not the rule or the exception.
