Just as 9/11 justified the end of some freedoms, so will the Newtown shooting. | |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 29744072 Australia 12/14/2012 05:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is the point: A few students were killed at a U.S school some years ago. A few years later, about 12 were killed. This time 26 were killed. Eventually, and for argument's sake, if there was a coordinated shooting massacre of 10,000 kids across America, would the right to bear arms still exist? Another user on here made a valid point of saying if the answer is "yes" then the Government should consider that one day those victims may not be civilians. This is a hypothetical that shows how supporting a "slippery-slide" law/issue can actually turn out quite badly for the people enforcing those laws. A historical hypothetical is like a King in ages past who allows the Peasants who hate him to carry thousands of swords made from the finest steel. What do you think will happen when they're provoked? This is not just an issue of keeping guns out of schools, or banning just automatic weapons. Anyone with even a simple handgun can cause carnage. This is an issue of whether the political elites are prepared to pay the ultimate price as a result of their indifference. Times are tough and getting tougher. Extreme times call for extreme measures, and one day, given the right circumstances and planets aligning, this may fall back on them. I am personally objective when it comes to gun-control. I believe that there are pros and cons for the arguments going both ways. What concerns me today, however, is that 20 kids have died and there will be those out there saying it was a false flag, a psy-op, aliens or brainwashing. That, to my mind, is a desperate attempt to emotionally separate oneself from the carnage of children while supporting an ill-fated Amendment. How many more innocent children must die? |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 29744072 Australia 12/14/2012 05:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a pattern: The bigger the crime the bigger the regulation. 9/11 = Enactment of the Patriot Act Newtown shooting = [fill in the blank] Many here on GLP may put "Total Gun Ban" NB: The Patriot Act was drafted in 1998-1999 but only put into force after 9/11. There are existing drafts of total gun bans that could very well be put into effect if the President signed the Executive Order to activate it. |

Quoting: The Tauremini However, when nearly 3,000 were killed in a single act, Congress had no hesitation in changing those laws. In previous school shootings, some of the death tolls have been significant, but not enough to change the 'right to bear arms' Amendment. This time, however, I'm not sure those changes can be stopped. This time the pro-gun lobby will have a hard time not sounding like they're dishonouring the memory of those children. In past school shootings, the impact was big, but not big enough to change the 'right to bear arms' law. This time it might be. This time their gig just might be up. It's why they chose the town with the name "NEWTOWN". Telling us the NWO thinks they will define our towns on their terms. It's a Newtown now. |

Freedom is fucking lovely when socipathic people are allowed to do as they plz. This is why your side is going to lose this argument. As someone said before if you want to have a debate on the right to bear arms vs having even a shot of growing up feel free to lose this one big time. Mental Health is the problem. Yet with a site like this or others on the net changing that problem is going to be infinitely harder than changing our violence or gun culture. |

A person that believes that there is a two party system. In one of the Presidential debates, both candidates stated they wanted stricter gun bans. They actually want no guns in the hands of the great unwashed. They are afraid of armed victims that they are perpetrating crimes against. They will take your guns no matter how many children they have to kill to do it. |

People will be disarmed eventually, and replaced by a supreme governing power which enforces absolute justice among the population. To think that society can evolve past a certain point otherwise is idiotic. Its probably a little early in the evolution to be any time soon. Especially since you are literally being invaded by the whole globe and the consequences of that are a ticking time bomb. And being around many of you, I have concluded that a sizeable portion of the male population is nothing better than loudmouth shitbags who use physical intimidation as their main means of existance and interaction with eachother in order to gain personal advantage and social standing. So your need for weapons to kill eachother is understandable, since you are no better than crap flailing monkeys in the long run. I bet I just made some of you angry. LOL |
