AR-15 doesn't matter which as both can shoot both rounds. However if marked 5.56mm on the barrel or receiver a 5.56mm which is a hotter load than a stnd. .223cal. round will break down the firing components faster of a long gun stamped .223 cal. Common knowledge here. M-16, M-4, AR-15 all shoot the same bullets one is marked on mm and the other in stnd. cal. difference being the hotness of the load or amount of grain for the projectile. FFS.
