I'm not for or against the OP. I am not religious at all nor am I an Atheist. I do however believe that man will corrupt that's in the bible too ;) and being that the bible has been translated by man time and time again i am certain there are things that where translated incorrectly even your precious KJV. I believe people should be free to think what they want and no one should judge them for that. So in regards to your question to me yes, I do think John the Baptist was judging the Herod and Herodias. Which I am assuming that's what your referring too. I was raised by an extremely religious mother and Ive seen and studied it all, but luckily for me I have seen through a lot of the bullshit. I have made my one decisions and I don't base my religious views on what translation of the bible I have.

Now its my turn to ask you a question. If God is omnipotent then why did he send his son to be tortured and killed to forgive mankind of there sins sin instead of just forgiving the sin?

I think you should actually read the Bible... particularly the Gospels where Jesus tells people to love one another

You are right on the presentation of different texts to different ethnic groups. This is generally accepted that it has happened.
By the way I was looking for Esdra's texts a while ago and i realised that we (orthodoxs) dont have canonised the same books as the Catholics and the rests. And this is a bit strange, eg, you dont have Esdra 1 and 2 which is the mostly numbers (the gold from the temple that Cyrus gave back to the israelites to hold back to Jerusalem and the numbers and names of the families that went back). I wonder why some kept this and others didnt.

You are right... as pointed out by the OP... he has given stellar examples of how the Bible is constantly being perverted... especially in the Catholic sect with the "newer" translations. Unfortunately people think the Bible is the Bible and that it doesn't matter which translation it is...

What you may not realize about the scripture is throughout the early generations they took it very seriously... they would take much care in making sure every word and punctuation was in the exact spot when copying it or it would be thrown away... to give you an example before they wrote the word "God" they would have to take a bath to make themselves clean enough to write that word.

I think that it's quite obvious by your statements and your foul language that God is NOT in particularly YOUR heart... first you would have to know Him... second you would strive to be like Him... I would question which god it is you think you are emulating your life after. Tell us... what is good and what is bad... and where did you learn those values from?

The early church was mostly based on oral tradition. We have no indications of early texts used.
