Re: Police Officer Slaps US Soldier
The cops are nothing but paid fucking civil servants.

Why oh why do so many on here give them elevated status in society.

The cops is guilty of assault, clear and simple.
You can't duke someone just for saying something you don't like. Funny, that freedom of speech only applies when it suits the agenda.

You people defending this cop are out to lunch, he is clearly an aggressive roided up ass that deserves jail time for his actions.

Not all cops are bad, but this one imo is the scum of the earth.

Re: Police Officer Slaps US Soldier
The cop is abusive. He cherry picked the situation to show his ass for what he is. Had it videod to snow job it at being a good guy. I felt the need to grab some boots as I watched the creep till the end. He's a hard ass sob who does not belong on the police force. He's clearly abusive........every chance he gets, no doubt. And stupid.

He should have gotten the kid calmed down....that is part of his job training. Who cares if the kid was rude and mouthy? You don't physically abuse citizens!!!! That's the point!

Fire him, I say!

I think the videos of cops that are posted usually show the cop being a dick but in this case the soldier deserved what he got. The soldier had a cocky attitude from the minute the cop showed up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33640796

so what? the police persons are the ones with the badges, guns and the power of the state behind them.

Don't you think that this inequality of implied force should call for a little restraint on the part of the police?

I have zero respect for that bully cop and I have both been in that situation and am a former Marine.

It does seem this way.

Looking at the tape it appears that "bullying", is the default setting for the assaulting police officer. The other police officer was such an enabler, effectively saying yes to every outrage .... Making a point of being seen as on "the bullies" side.

This is classic psychopathic behaviour and has no place in a civilised world, it is moral insanity.

Ultimately, the Police Officer Knew that what he had done, was wrong. The Kid was a jerk but falsifying a Police report to hide that he had slapped him proves he knew he was out of line.

Re: Police Officer Slaps US Soldier
you guys defending the cop are idiotic. THE COP STEPPED UP TO HIM, not the other way around. All the guy said was "US Soldier, know who you are talking to?" which obviously was enough to activate the overactive cop's ego that is already in a power trip overdrive. Yes the cops MUST be tough as individuals, but they don't have to use every situation to display their ego's need for validation by exerting power over others in situations that CLEARLY posed no danger to ANYONE. The cop KNEW he would get a reaction from the guy and HE KNEW he would end up punching the guy, he SET HIM UP for it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23322128

Apparently the 'kid' was on a power trip of his own thinking hes all bigshot. No wonder his roommates beat on him.

Being a US soldier doesn't give that little fuck the right to flat out disrespect the very same people that came to help him....The little douch started it with his big mouth.

If some little wannabe bigshot soldier said to my husband - do you know who your talking to?.....
My husband would reply - Yeah, the peron who just got his ass handed to him - any more questions?

the cop wasn't right but,the little prick deserved it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16213727

soldier = bad guy for being on a power trip.

cop = good guy for being on a power trip.

Glad we got that cleaned up.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33827757

did you read the first 4 words of my last sentance?

I did not say that the cop was good for being on a power trip. but, thanks for playing.

If I recall this video correctly;

Kid says "you guys take for fucking ever"
Cop's ego gets damaged and he decides to step towards him
Kid steps up
Begin military dick waving contest

They're both dumb but the cop had no reason to step up to the kid.
 Quoting: Sneetch

That said, the response to posturing and dick waving is NOT to punch and almost strangle someone who is clearly little to no threat.

That officer needs a good civil suit slapped on him.

That had everything to do with CONTROL and nothing to do with defending himself, which is surely the bullshit story he was trying to craft for himself there by repeatedly mentioning his "posturing" up to him.

The cop should absolutely be kicked off the force and sued. Period.

And, I think the other guy already learned his lesson. Ouch.
 Quoting: Present and Aware

That being said...if he really was a soldier and was taken down that quickly and easily..he sucks.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30890652

you couldn't see it but when the pig had him on the ground it sounded like he had him by the neck and was choking him which is clearly an assult or even attempted murder...
 Quoting: thetrickybigguy

Exactly. You even hear him gasp out, "I can't breath." That cop should be brought up on assault charges at the very least.

If he is truly a Soldier, he did not act like one. Him and his fist-line supervisor NCO both need adjustments. NCO's are Leader/Trainers, and this Soldier is clearly lacking the mentorship of a Good NCO.

1. My Soldiers, don't get mouthy and disrespectful with "State-side" Law Enforcement.

2. My Soldiers would have fought back, like a Combat Soldier.

3. My Soldiers would have Called Me before dialing 911 and I would have brought the necessary Man-Power to deal with whatever situation arises.

4. If the Local Policing Force needs the Adjustment, the adjustment would come at a time they least expect it and it would be overwhelming and overpowering. Just like we did back at Fort Polk, LA in the 1990's

*After seeing the video of the Former Marine/Police SGT. act as he did, I would have counseled my Soldier and had him work for the Police department a few weekends in their Motor pool as corrective training

The Former Marine/Police SGT. made an "On the Spot Correction
" and even excepted the young disrespectful Soldiers apology.

End of Incident.

I got pushed from behind from one cop to another choked (had fingernail imprints in my throat) my ankle broke and thrown thru a fence creating puncture wounds in my shoulder by 4 cops. Why because I questioned their legal authority. Then my family got threatened if I sued. So I plead guilty to DC. The judge was pissed when he saw I was pleading guilty tried talking me out of it. All because of a custody issue with a quest and they called me (the homeowner) out to question something I knew nothing about. I knew nothing so I got my ass kicked on my front porch. Judge fined me 15 bucks and said huge mistake and bitched out the DA and said they are lucky I plead guilty. Bottom line is money wasn't worth my families safety from legal mofia.

Did the cop actually said he could press charges or something like that, and afterwards act like he just let it slide.

I'm glad the cops in my country act on reason rather than force, your cops act like convicts. The kid was outraged by what had happen to him up to the event, some small talk would have calmed him down, but if not then I could understand he needed to be calmed down but the cop vent on a ragetrip as you would expect from some street thug.

The mind does boggle!

What the hell are you talking about? The guy had been robbed and assaulted and he gave a little attitude as he was obviously pissed off so how does this constitute him being a liberal or how does it have anything to do with eugenics? If you support such behaviour by the police then we are very clearly not on the same side as I do not support a dictatorship where police have threats hitting people because they've heard somebody say something they don't like.

Put yourself in the victims position and see how polite and cheerful you are if your stuff has been dumped on the front lawn and you've taken hits by the perps. I suspect you'd take the same stance as most have in this thread which is that physical violence is wrong when dealing with disgruntled members of the public. Words should have been used to diffuse the situation.

You talk about toeing the line, well, that depends where the line is painted and whether it's susceptible to move at the police's whim. At the end of the day it was this guy that called the cops for assistance. He was not the perpetrator of any crime which makes the cops reaction even more unreasonable and uncalled for.

At the end of the day it was this guy that called the cops for assistance. He was not the perpetrator of any crime which makes the cops reaction even more unreasonable and uncalled for.

He is a douche bag I don't know what age you are but really he in old terms deserves a slap in the face and told calm the fu*k down. I end the conversation there that is how it has been that is how it always will be a twat will get slapped however it will be. No matter if he just needed a slap after doing something special or if he needed a slap to calm the f*ck down. End result he calmed down so please maybe leave it

This is not someone you are dealing with on the street though so your logic does not work here. If police are allowed to act this way without any comeback what do you suppose would happen? They'd start using this approach in more situations on people that didn't actually deserve what happened to them.

And for the record I am 43, though why that has any relevance on the situation is beyond me. As I said, the victim was annoyed at the police taking a long time and he expressed it.

You attitude is one of roll over and do what your told. Why even come here if you are happy with such levels of dictatorship?
When you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all
