Anonymous Coward User ID: 34112339 United States 02/10/2013 09:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We had some strange weather today - they forecast rain but we had bizarre lightning storm. There was no buildup, but just sudden blinding flashes and rumbles that lasted several minutes and shook the house. There were only two. I'm used to "close lightning" strikes, we've had several trees hit over the years, but this was different because it was so spontaneous. Got home about 8:10pm (Mid GA) saw 2 orange flashes on the eastern horizon but not ground to cloud, it was vertical side to side, just above the tree line about 2 secs apart. No thunder; no other lightening. Just that. Very strange...just now started raining |

Is what you saw like a camera flash (but huge)? I'm used to seeing just your basic bolt, up and down or side to side when a storm is approaching. When it's right on top of us, I see the flash and hear the crack at the same time. But tonight the light was bright enough to be on top of us, but it took a while before the sound arrived and when it did it rumbled on and on and everything was rattling. I went on Twitter and people were describing it like a bomb exploding. |
