Take a empty milk gallon to the gas station and pump one gallon into it. temperature matters too Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32877835 volumes are generally corrected to 15 degrees Celsius. If gas temp less than 15 and assume it is metered properly, you will get more gas. If greater than 15 you get less. In Canada there is a regulator that tests for octane and quantity. If a pump meters wrong big fine. Octane too. To receive more gas, fill up in the coolest part of the day. You will get more volume. Ive heard first thing in the morning when the fuel is less dense or something. It was on top gear |

If I gad a gas station I wouldn't only give you less gasoline but I would mix it with water, to be on the safe side and make some extra money! LOLZ Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26985611 We've had mixed gas here in the states. Engines stop working and the lawsuits come. Happened. yes we are seeing that now with ethanol. not only do you get less mileage out of the ethanol mix, it's actually not good for your engines either. Take a empty milk gallon to the gas station and pump one gallon into it. gas cans are made of certain kinds of plastic that won't react. While preparing a bonfire this past fall, I used a red plastic cup to pour some gas into to pitch it up the woodpile.....the plastic cup held firm for a few seconds then violently melted....gas going all over me. Would a milk jug melt or actually hold the gas? Quoting: Dace Someone else probably said this already but if there is ethanol in the gas it will melt plastic. Take a empty milk gallon to the gas station and pump one gallon into it. I'm way late on this thread as well as I almost never post here but... I own a vehicle with a 21 gallon tank. I arrived at the gas station and my gauge light was not on but I was really low, so I know there is no less than a gallon of gas in my tank, most likely closer to two or even more. I proceed to fill the tank. As it nears 20 gallons I figure it's gotta shut off any second. Nope it keeps going. Beyond 20, beyond 21 all the way to 22.6 gallons of gas pumped, or so it says. There is no way my tank expanded to accept an extra 2 and a half gallons of gas or more. I went inside to ask the clerk, "what's up with your pumps?"...he says, "I dunno, maybe your car takes more than you thought". My vehicle has never been able to hold more than 21 gallons, never. It's in the manual as well in the capacity list. We are being screwed every chance a crooked bastard gets. Expect more of this, being short changed, IMO. |

Take a empty milk gallon to the gas station and pump one gallon into it. Hmm I've actually been pondering about this myself, how accurate the pumps are. Here in Canada we pay per litre, and with gas at around $1.30, you only get 3/4 a litre before you even hit a dollar. The other day I only had 5 bucks to put in my tank, it literally took like 3-4 seconds to fill to that mark of less then 4 litres of gas and made me think how accurate that actually was in consideration to such a small and hastly fill. |

This is true. Used to be an assistant manager at a 7/11 while going to school. Often graveyard. I didn't give two craps if people wanted to fill up with a plastic milk jug or whatever, I would warn them the gas would eat the plastic and it might harm your engine though. Working graveyard at a 7/11 it is best to not hassle people unless you want shanked, robbed, or shot. I would always direct issues to the boss man in the morning if people had problems. Shitty job, very shitty. Got laid a few times in the bathroom though, smoked a LOT of pot. Made things bearable but overall it kills your spirit. |

It hits the 1 gallon mark a little below the line on the container - maybe 1/2 inch or so but if someone is thinking the gallon all the way to the top they are mistaken. |
