Pope Benedict XVI is Officially Resigned. There is No Pope

Well, that's off to a good start. If we can get to "we are religionless", it would be such a better world !!

So we are Popeless, hopeless, copeless. Yet the world is still here.

Religion, what's it good for? Absolutely nothing.

Now the Vatican is officially in the hands of the Cardinal Camerlengo.

His name is Tarcisio PIETRO Bertone, and he was born in ROMANO Canavense...

They are saying on the news that it could be April before there is a new one.

Seems like there are power struggles.

We are popeless, but since the Pope is only the "Vicar of Christ" and this is Jesus' own church("thou are Peter(rock),and upon this rock I build MY church...and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Through good times and bad, it is HIS church and the Pope, however beloved by most catholics, is just a part, albeit an important one.

Its ok folks...Masses still being said 24/7, re-experiencing the sacrifice on the cross...Hopefully the Holy Spirit is picking a good new Pope.

I personally thought Jesus asked Benedict to step in and allow a ripening time of the successor and then he could step down when Our Lord signaled him. He asked to retire at the age of 75 an JPII said no, he still needed him. READ Benedicts writings...and what did JPII say at that German visit years ago. They know the end times are very close.

Not much different from what happens when a Pope dies. There is no pope until a new one is elected.

So the Catholic Church could be without a Pope for Easter.

When do you suspect we will know the voting date?

I noticed you subtracted the "mourning" period 15-9 to get the earliest possible date at the 6th but would that mean the max would be 20-9 and the vote would be at the latest on the 11th?

I thought Jesus said that the church wasn't made of any earthly things. That WE are the CHURCH.

ok when we are at actually at pope doome i just want to mention that everytime i see pictures of benedict ratzinger while checking the daily media,his face and smiling is always reminding me on Mr. Burns from the Simpsons. I think there already was such a comparition picture on the net.
