Official NASA: The Glow Of A Classic Supernova Will Soon Emerge! | |
THE Professor ! User ID: 38621139 United States 05/08/2013 04:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Despite the postings here 'saying that gamma ray bursts to Earth last for minutes, most are measured in SECONDS. This one WAS measured in minutes, so it was strong. BUT, one HAS to know IF you were on the DARK side of the Earth when it happened, it did NOTHING to harm you. SAD that science education has sunk to this level, along, apparently with reading comprehension. |

Quoting: Niemand Namely between the 10th and the 12th of May 2013 ... [link to gcn.gsfc.nasa.gov] Explanation: A tremendous explosion has occurred in the nearby universe and major telescopes across Earth and space are investigating. Dubbed GRB 130427A, the gamma-ray burst was first seen by the Earth-orbiting Swift satellite in high energy X-rays and quickly reported down to Earth. Within three minutes, the half-meter ISON telescope in New Mexico found the blast in visible light, noted its extreme brightness, and relayed more exact coordinates. [link to apod.nasa.gov] Holy shit, there's a "nearby" universe?!?!? I thought there was just one universe, this one. How the hell many universes are there? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 14443159 United States 05/08/2013 05:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This won't effect earth at all. If this explosion happened 3.6 to 5 billion light years away, then it happened in a different galaxy. Our galaxy is around 150,000 light years across. The most that we could hope for is to see a new point of light between the big dipper and the constellation Leo. Quoting: Rushanpriest ^^^THIS Come on guys if this thing can affect earth and change the nature of our sun, can you imagine how it will affect everything between the supernova and our solar system? We should be seeing many stars going crazy and planets go kaboom already when the shockwave travels through. Give it up guys nothing will happen, long live Barry the King. |

Try leaving out the second 's' in dissolved, dissidence, etc. as in you DON'T say Di-solved, etc. Very common mistake TAUGHT by teachers, even those who can spell, because some OTHER teacher pronounced it wrong ! [link to apod.nasa.gov] Are there more universes in the universe? I think we should replace universe with Galexy. Your correction -> "A tremendous explosion has occurred in the nearby galaxy." That is incorrect. The paper spoke of the host galaxy for the event, making that a different galaxy according to the paper. That would be a nearby galaxy, or as was stated in 'the nearby universe'. ( [link to dspace.mit.edu] OP is referring to something that happened near to our galaxy in the universe. |

In separate line were leo zeta and ursala (sometimes my mind gets in the way, but I believe the message should have Ursa). this was in 2005-2006. I was also told there were eight years left and that we needed to learn to live basically, because we were going to be forced back to basics, the very basics. I am not up to argue about this. Just wanted to post for anyone that cares. |
